If by "Half Irish" you mean that one of your parents was actually born in Ireland, then it's a pretty straightforward thing for you to claim Irish citizenship for yourself - contact your nearest Irish consulate for details of what paperwork is needed. It takes a little time, but once you've got an Irish passport you can live and work anywhere in the EU. Frankly, I've never seen the point of an Irish citizen taking out British citizenship (there are about half a million Irish citizens living in the UK, nearly 1% of the UK population), since Irish citizens have always had exactly the same rights as UK citizens in Britain as far as living, working, voting, standing for elections, etc - they never changed the rules after most of Ireland became independent.

I can talk about Ireland for you:

Pros would mostly be nice scenary and geological and biological interest sites. It also has a unique culture and unique sports. It has become very americanised along with the rest of the UK though.

Cons-Bad Weather and religious differences cause problems in the past.

Where to start ... the pro's, that is the prostitutes, are women who sell their bodies on the street .... the cons are the blokes in prison who got caught picking them up.

England:
Pros - Friendly people (usually), decent shopping centres, fairly good education system, nice rural areas, vibrant cities, lovely seaside coasts.
Cons - Crime rate has gone up a lot in the past few years, can often feel unsafe, run by idiots, everything is expensive.

Ireland:
Pros - Lovely countryside + cities, kind people, fairly good roads + transport systems, good education systems, a little cheaper than England.
Cons - Crime rate, property is expensive, not a very good health system - though England's isn't brilliant either.

Very vague question but if you are Irish you should know what a wonderful place Ireland is to live in !

The weather is pretty dire in both countries, the economy is going down the pan fast in both countries with Ireland in recession so the government tells us.

If I could afford to I'd move to Brittany in France tomorrow, great weather, clean towns with excellent road signs and fabulous beaches.

GreatBrit
Ireland and England are totally different, plus do you mean Great Britain.
Pros are hard to come by at the moment as the whole of Europe are struggling, credit crunch, immigration, redundancies, health care.

As an Alaskan I want to visit both because I have a distant relative with a Medal of Honor in London. Mellish is the name. As an American I would love to see it and take pics.

Well there is kinda no pros to ireland. Compared to america ireland is like a farm. It rains in Ireland 24/7. There was only 3 or 4 days this summer that it did not rain. Dont move here. You will regret it.

pank t
don't move, america needs good people to stay in order to fix the mess your politicians have made
