What are the men like it turkey?

Pinar
Turkish men. Most of them are great lovers. They really like the romance, giving gifts, try to impress you with anything. They are generally handsome, I like especially dark hair and green eyes combination.
Well, I am a Turkish woman and have a British boyfriend. Why not a Turkish man! My problem was the jealousy. But I found out that the British men are jelaous too. He moved To Turkiye and started to watch every single thing I do.
To be honest with you even I have a British boyfriend, I still think that Turkish guys are really great.
Some of the girls who visited Turkiye talk about that the guys were offering tea and etc. What's wrong with it. I did it a lot to the people who are foreigners. That has nothing to do with the men, it is the HOSPITALITY, which is in our nature. If you take it wrong, that's your problem than.
Briefly, they are honest, handsome, a bit macho, very protective and have the big man ego but that suits them very well and jealous.
Most important thing, they can do anything for you if they love.

Totally Blunt
Oi! How many racist Turk-haters!

Anyway. I am Turkish. Due to ethnic mixing for thousands of years, you can find Turkish guys looking like Europeans, Slavs, Middle-Easterns, Asians, you name it. We even have a handful of black genes. I just wish we had more. They make beautiful mixed-race people.

Anyway. About the comments above... I go to Aegean coasts every year and, yes, I wear bikinis. All guys, be them Turkish or European, like to look at women in bikinis, but I have never been molested. I would like to add that I am not considered ugly, either.

Yes, there are some very insistent types, but you must understand that there are always tourist girls around who like these types very well, too. Else they wouldn't be jumping all over our guys, I guess.

Anyway. You won't know until you see it with your own eyes. Turkey isn't somewhere that can be described, Turkey is somewhere to be experienced.

If you are asking "What are men like IN Turkey?", the answer is mostly dark haired, 2 eyed and eared, 1 nose and 1 mouth, 2 each arms and legs.
Other than that, you will not obtain a "correct" answer because even Turks are as psychologically different as any male from your country. Furthermore a male from Istanbul would be wholly different psychologically from a male from an East Anatolian village.

Perhaps you should have asked; "How would you describe the stereotypical Turkish male?"

\
there are good and bad.. you can not generalise

Agree with Pinar..
also you get what you see from a Turkish man, they will not tell you what you wanna hear they will tell you what they think and how they feel...

Turkish men are warm and loving, making you feel safe and secure..

But again there are bad ones just as you get a few in your nation..

Love the man not where he comes from..

in every country, there might be stupid and good people. so, at first, as a turkish man, i thank all people's comments especially abbusing about turkish man with a generalization. u managed to show to the world that turkish men are animals, congratulations!

a classical turkish man is reliable, protective and might be a little jealous. respect is a big deal, too. also, turkish people are nationalist cos of their heroic history so they cannot accept insults about turkish people, so do i.

however, we cant generalize people from here; as some of might be real good people, some of might be bastards, too.

Normal men like all the mediterraneans..But respectful to some principles that the european dont respect...The only problem is that they look, but just look nothing else the different girls, I mean I have problem when I go because I am taller and blond hair, and they look...But if you are with a man, they dont dare to speak because the honour of the woman is important in Turkey.. and then you will have bela, kavga, and samata(as we say also in Greece)Just that...

Like many respondents have noted, it's difficult to make sweeping generalizations. One person's experience may differ greatly from antoher's which would influence their perceptions. Of course, there are regional or generational/age differences as well as how you respond or react to them.

However, based solely on my own personal experience (I was in Istanbul in October), I found Turkish men to be friendly, gracious, a little flirtacious, hospitable and polite. They had this air of old-fashioned gallantry, which I found to be refreshing and charming.

I would go back to Turkey in a heartbeat - the architecture and culture were amazing. But it was the people that truly sold me!

I live in Turkey and all my friends are Turkish. The men are very charming and though a lot are genuine there are a lot around the tourist resorts who think English girls are easy targets for sex which they cant get easily in their own culture. They are very jealous and I have seen them fight over girls on numerous occasions sometimes ending in serious injury and on two occasions gunfire so dont flirt with more than one at a time.Dont let me put you off.Just be careful and remember you are in different culture so take it easy and remember when they say I love you they will be saying it again next week when the next flight arrives.

melissa c
It really difficult to say because thats sterotyping however they do have the reputation of being perverted. however which ever race u look at there that so it differs from person to person!

expatturk
As Pinar says... And...Beautiful, funny, loving, protective, jealous, crazy, always late but apologetic. They age too early because on the whole their lives are hard. They don't know how good they are, so sometimes they try too hard, one way or another. Because they feel that they need to be "Turkish men," they sometimes will deny their true feeings and act silly/stupid. They are, after all, just men.

Tanju
Dear Emily,

I am a Turkish man.
Please before reading my answer, ask to by oneself, what does a woman want ?
....
....
....
Lets thinking together...

Love, friend, father, protection, sincerety, ah yes a little bit jealosly etc.
Is there any something ? Well maybe I forgot it something :-)
That is it, You will find all of them in a Turkish man.

If it is not clear, please ask me again .

Kind Regards,
Tanju

Pinar,

like in all countries there are some uneducated men in Turkey too. but in general Turkish men are a kind of men who can die without thinking for their womens protection, they are sincere (honesty is a very powerful value) and they always feel responsible for the standars of their family and do their best

My best friend and I went to Turkey in September 2006 and had the worst time imaginable due to the Turkish men! We would walk the 5 mins from our hotel to the beach in a bikini and sarong and get spoken to by every other man, when we were sunbathing on the beach they would come and sit round you and just stare continuously - it made us really uncomfortable. At night time we would dress down as we didn't want to wear anything skimpy, the men would just send drinks to our tables and the waiters would sit with us during dinner. Too look back on it it is quite funny now, but while we were there we felt so vulnerable... The shopkeepers are a pain as well, they constantly follow you down the street trying to get you into their shop and once in you cannot get out, they try and get you to buy stuff with free apple tea and gifts!

We are not remotely beautiful or anything jus blonde English girls - they like blonde, we got several marriage proposals! Oh yeah, and they think everyone English is a spice girl!!

noodle
my experience in turkey was that the men are sleezy (grope you as you walk passed) and assume all western women are porn stars because they only see western women in these movies and the turkish women are so covered up compared to the tourists.
having said that, i also met some lovely men there.

chillipope
Terrible football fans - they give football a bad name. And, the Turks I play online backgammon with are mostly rude and bad losers.
