Very very tough to decide.
Italy was amazing
Spain was so much fun
France well what can you say about Paris its incredible
The Netherlands was beautiful with friendly people
The Swiss Alps are sort of a cant miss
I know this is six, but I also really enjoyed Bruges Belgium. It's a small romantic medevil city.
Wherever you go I am sure you will have fun and see great sights and meet great people... besides if you only have time for five this time maybe you can do five more next time you go! |

Gosh, that really depends on what you want to see. The ones that hold the most value to Western culture (i.e., museums, monuments, historical sites) are Italy, England, France, Germany, and Spain. As such, most people visit these countries.
Other countries shouldn't be overlooked though. I live in Hungary and Budapest is amazing and I think a must-see, but the rest of the country is really only interesting if you're interested in Hungary. Bosnia-Hercegovina is one of the prettiest countries I've ever seen, but also very sad because of the wars there 10 years ago. For me, it's a must see. Croatia is probably Europe's best known secret right now. You've got all the same beach resorts as Italy and France but at a fraction of the cost. Plus the cities of Split and Dubrovnik are fantastic.
So assuming we're going for 5 countries based totally on overall value, I'd say England, Italy, and France, but then throw in Croatia, and Bosnia as well so you can get an all around effect. |

Actually, all the European countries are worth visiting. They all have so much history, architecture, art, and ethnic flavor to offer. My favorites are: France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria. I'm also adding Sweden, Lichtenstein (tiny country as it is), and England, of course, which isn't part of the EU but is my favorite of all. |

Spain (people, food, culture, beaches)
France (food, culture, beauty, Paris)
Switzerland or Austria (can't choose between them) BEAUTY
Italy (food, art, culture, beauty--did I say food?)
Croatia (beaches, Dubrovnik, people and still relatively undiscovered)
You really can't go wrong anywhere in europe, but to me, the people are the key to a good trip, which is why Spain is on the top. ENJOY! |

Italy, the UK, France, Germany (my country), Greece.
Russia is great too. And Turkey. And Spain. And... ARRRG!
There is no way to decide what is best, aside from using a map of Europe and throwing a dart arrow with your eyes closed! |

it depends what your priority in traveling is.
for history; Turkey.
for architecture; Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy.
for a peaceful vacation; south of Turkey.
for an amusing vacation Spain.
i've also heard that Bosnia Herzegovina is a great country with very friendly people.
those are what i've heard and seen so far.
but europe is a perfect continent to visit.
hope that helps. |
