It would definitely be γεια, the abbreviation of Γειά σου. As a foreigner I find it extremely interesting, I've learned all my friends the meaning and the pronunciation and I use it in everyday life outside Greece. Could be my affection toward this word began after I heard the song Γειά σου by Dimitris Korgialis, which I do not find very artistic, but it has a special place in my heart, only due to its name - Γειά σου!!!

As the answerer above - I like 'siga ta avga' which literally translated means slowly the eggs - but actually a better translation ' Yeah right!' said sarcastically. And Ego na deis - translation please ..... hmmm sort of ' I will see or you will see me? Just like English sayings are difficult to translate so are Greek.
My pet hate from my kids 'me: Yiati? (Why?) them 'Etsi! (that's it/because) ...... grrrrrr!
Po po - that's the best to explain shock - disbelief! Use that with out thinking but seeing a crash on tv etc it's usually a poooooooooor! held on for effect!

Think about it carefully. Ypnos, the God of sleep, came to me, embraced me and took me away. How very different from the plain Anglo-Saxon "I fell asleep".

I like 'Siga to laxano'. It literally means 'Slow the cabbage' but is meant to say 'Big deal!'. Its quite a funny translation.

I dont know about greek word, but greek names like Hercules
do to the fact he the strongest mortal man on earth. He's the best out of all the greeks and greek heros.
