its a different world compared to the rest of europe, it is a busy place and never sleeps.

you can get away from the sex n drugs if you want as all of the coffeshops and brothells are in the same area.

it's an interesting place, i've had some good times there but i don't think i'd live there.

transport is good there are trams all over the place and you can get around on bike easily.

Amsterdam is awesome...laid back, friendly people. Relatively safe city. Lots and lots of bicycles...you'll want to get a bicycle because parking in atrocious.

I'm jealous...i wanna go.

I would 100% agree with pauldbrow the centre of Amsterdam does tend to be dirty and also there are a lot of restaurants that are tourist traps how ever if you get outside Amsterdam you will find it very nice indeed Holland is a great country and the people are great people and very friendly as well the greater majority of them speak English and are always willing to help you there are some nice places to see in Amsterdam the Anne Frank house being among them I have been to Holland many times I go at the very least once a year and Ill be going again in about a months time for two weeks i recomend that you go to this site which is for ex Dutch Pats but is in English it has a lot of information on it

Well, get ready for a climate change. Very rainy and cold but it's lovely there. Very central. easy to get around. lot's of traffic for such a small area but no need for a car as getting around by bicycle or tram is quick and easy. Great sushi and fish, as it is near the sea. I am sure you will love it. What company will you be working for and is there any way to find a job there if you are not an EU member?

Pros. Everone speaks english. Weed, redlight district liberal attitude to every thing. Only place where i've been that they have a sex shop and a Macdonalds next door to each other. I'm going there again in 6 days time.

Cons. Beer is about £3.50 a pint in centre. There black gezer every where around the red light district trying to make you buy there coke. only place i've ever been where the begger and multi lingual.

nice place worked and stayed ther for two years Come out of station red light district on your left side shopping on your right. lot of beggars and muggers dont wander about by youself at night. going to milan on the 5th of march for football celtic v milan whats the pro's and con's on that.

cassidy
Apparently the window shopping is great

Trey
legal drugs, legal red line district.

They have lax social attitudes. The women are gorgeous and watch out for "dog eat dog" attitudes at the American Company.

The ho's are fine, the weed is good, and there's loads of bars and clubs.

you don't need to know anything else.

The centre of Amsterdam is a rather dirty place. Huge quantities of drugs being pushed on the streets and prostitutes in the windows. Dirty and seedy in my opinion. However, the outer areas of Amsterdam, and the rest of Holland are beautiful places, and the Dutch I found to be friendly and helpful. You can also appreciate the Dutch liberal attitudes to sex and drugs and just about everything else without the dirtiness of the centre. There are people from every nation under the sun in the centre....but very few dutch! Tax at 40% is also quite heavy, but the wages are generally much better.
