All European Countries are cold during January since they are located in the Northern Hemisphere. However, the foIlowing European Countries have mild (mainly wet) winters as they are located in South Europe: Portugal, Spain, France (South), Italy, Malta and Greece. The average temperature for January in South Europe is appx 10C. The warmest of them should be Greece and more specifically, the island of Crete.

N.B. I assume you mean European Countries since you posted your question in the European Section.

Forget Spain being warm in January...it's an urban myth..check the weather sites. Warmest in Spain today is Seville (normally is in winter) at 17degrees. Barcelona got 12 max,Granada -2, Madrid 10, Canaries 21. Even Croatia and Turkey are not warm, quite cool actually. Greece is ok,but a bit upset just now with the riots. Canary Isles, which although technically part of Spain are off the coast of Morocco. Morocco itself is good. Not all wilderness. It's got some lovely areas and the people I found were very polite and friendly.Nothing like what I expected.. There's a ferry from Tarifa in Andalucia, great place, which gets there in 35 minutes. You can see the Rif mountains in Morocco over the water from there.....If you want a long flight, try Chile. The cleanest country I've ever seen, great food, party atmosphere in all the towns at night, warm and friendly....it's a ball. Terrific place. Santiago is 31 today, not a cloud in the sky. Nearest beach is San Antonio 30 degrees at 2pm today.

Australia is very warm in January because they are experiencing their summer then. I've been to Australia in January and the weather was great. The Caribbean and Mexico are warm during January. The Phillippines is warm year-round. I have a relative who lives there. Also, practically anywhere in the southern hemisphere, or anywhere near the equator will be warm in January. The exception is the south pole, of course. Very cold there year-round.

Well Im not sure about warm, but it's summer now in all countries in the Southern Hemisphere.

Maybe go to Australia.

Oh, and u above me, No, it is cold now in Spain, Portugal and Turkey.

Also as for South America, well if u go to the Southern part of Chile, it's like u're in Northern Alaska during the summer. Always cold
