Do you mean the Russian Federation or Russian tourists? The latter, I assume.

Anyway, Serbia, Greece, Cyprus, Montenegro, Ukraine (East) are all very positive about the Russians. Ethnic Russians in Russia are positive about themselves as well, though one might suspect that ordinary Russians might place your American citizenship above your Russian ethnicity.

Most other countries, say, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, or Scandinavian countries are perfectly fine with Russians. Some are opposed to Russia politically, but are rather friendly to tourists, such as the Czech Republic, Croatia or Austria. Most formerly Communist countries are like that. It's rather complex in many cases, say, in Bulgaria or in Romania, because there are lots of genuine cultural similarities combined with political opposition.

Germany is perhaps a bit of a special case, since they've had a lot of conflicts with Russia in the past, and because they have a fair amount of immigrants from Russia (who are usually ethnically non-Russian), however, they were very friendly to me. Surprisingly, Eastern Germans were actually more welcoming than Western Germans, possibly because of nostalgia. Both were really nice.

In general, you can freely travel all over Europe if you're Russian. You are unlikely to face any hostile sentiments anywhere. And you most definitely won't be assaulted or even slandered by anyone. How are they supposed to tell a Russian from a local until you open your mouth, anyway?

The only vehemently anti-Russian European countries are Poland, Finland, Western Ukraine, and the Baltic countries, i.e. those who historically had to deal with the Russian government, which is traditionally very crappy. However, Finland and the Baltic countries still have tons of Russian tourists, in fact, more of them than countries that don't hate Russia.

Since Western Ukraine isn't a country per se, that pretty much leaves us with Poland. However, most of the Poles that I've communicated with would change their opinion radically if you make them understand that you're anti-Communist and condemn Russian chauvinistic attitudes towards their country.

P.S. In the UK, they aren't very fond of all Eastern Europeans. It's very surprising that they should slander Poles, Russians, Lithuanians, etc., considering the amount of third world African and Asian immigrants there. Curiously, British nationalists (say, BNP) are actually more amicable towards them than mainstream British politicians.

Greeks traditionally love and respect Russians. Serbs as well are emotionally orientated to Russians.
But I know progressive people from all over the world which don't hate Russians, but on the contrary they are fond of their culture.
No cultured person can hate the people from which Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Puskin, Prokofiev, Ulanova, Nijinsky, Rubliov and so many authors and artists came from.

Your question is a pseudo-question ? because you don't let real possibilities to contributors - it is very typically propaganda style -

If you ask me "who in the world or Europe feels all right with Russia" - I'll tell you at least as many people as the ones rejecting the States -

The question is not to be asked on the country scale, but on the opinion-scale - very generally people supporting the US imperialism, do not like Russia - and people rejecting it try to understand how and why Russia works -

Just as long as you're respectful to everyone, I don't think it should be a problem. Many countries have problems with the Russian GOVERNMENT, not so much the people.

Russia has been the cause of many problems and are known as being warmongers throughout the years, hence people saying, "Oh I hate the Russians!" I'm even guilty of it, but I mean the government, not the people. During Soviet times the Russian people were just as suppressed as everyone else the Soviets had control over.

Now I'm getting off of topic, but don't let being Russian hold you back from traveling anywhere in Europe. Again, just be respectful to everyone and it shouldn't be a problem.

I havent ever seen russians get a hard time in either US or Canada. Most here are smart enough to seperate "russians" from the acts of the "russian government" same as most of us are bright enough to seperate Americans from the acts of the american government.
People are people. I cant say about europe but in North America you wont have an issue as a russian

Well, any countries that doesn't like the USA will definitely favor Russia over USA.

As for your experience, you just met the wrong person at the wrong time. Not all Russians are bad etc. the same goes for all countries in the world.

The only ones that do not like Russia/Putin [lets not kid ourselves as to who is the leader] are the ones that are too scared to voice an opinion. New paint job doesn't kill the mold underneath; it reappears after awhile.

I don't think it is countries in general. just individuals or a common consensus, the same could be said about the USA, China France or any country for different reasons. It is just that Russia hasn't made any friends with it's handling of breakaway republics in Georgia recently. To those of us who remember, it does seem like a land grabbing exercise akin to when Hitler entered the Sudetenland.
