Go to Prague, Czech Republic. it's like fairytale land with all it's castles and bridges and castles again. but at the same time.. it's fun there.. I mean, do you know that beer there costs much much less than water, there are a lot of cool pubs and bars.. and when it comes to clubs there is one that is a 5-level/floor one.. me and my friends have just been there this march.. and we had lots of fun.. the coffee houses are great too.. and if you smoke cigarettes, i think you'd like it in there, because it's cheaper there than in other european countries.. but just be careful with your money, either your wallets gets snatched as you stroll along the city or the restaurants will rob you of your money in front of your own eyes..

"Peter" and Moscow are great cities. However, there is a lot of hassle with Russian visas. Additionally Russia is a bit 'off the beaten track' from a European perspective. It takes quite a while to get anywhere else... People do not generally speak English.

Moscow is not considered dangerous for tourists, but be careful if you go to St Petersburg which has a reputation for robberies.

Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania are some good alternatives to Russia. No Visa hassle. Great beaches and still plenty of Russians and old Soviet era reminders about. People can speak Russian (if you happen to speak it).

Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland are all great & interesting countries where everybody speaks very good English - makes life easier for you. The weather is milder.

Cool 'summer countries' for "beach+some culture" are Croatia, Bulgaria, Portugal plus "the usual suspects" i.e. France, Spain, Italy and Greece.

Depending on how much time you have, you can combine several countries: For example, it is super-quick and easy to get from Paris or Brussels to London, or from the French Riviera to Florence or Tuscany in Italy.

This is because of superfast trains. Trains let you experience more of a country and see more than if you fly. For short European journeys it's always preferable to go by train.

Russia is worth the trip but requires expensive visas that require a complicated application process and an invitation from family, friends or a hotel/tour company in Russia. If you are going on "holiday with friends," it doesn't sound like you want to deal with a lot of bureaucracy, for which the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) will be a better choice while still offering some Soviet history and architecture. There will also be much more English spoken and written than is Russia.
In Russia, Moscow is more dangerous than St. Petersburg but as others have said, any city can be dangerous if you aren't careful. Make sure you keep together and don't stay out too late and you will be okay. Make sure you go where you want to go, don't let your dad's stories scare you off! Millions of girls live in those cities every day!

Moscow is fine. Like most cities you just have to be sensible about where you are going and what you are doing. http://hubpages.com/_spuds/hub/Moscow_Travel_Guide

Melissa
Ireland of course!!!!! Cead Mile Failte!!!!!!!

Sara
Oh, I'd love to go there! England or Ireland would be other places I'd like to go too. Any place can be dangerous, and not just at night. Just be a careful traveller (have you seen Hostel, lol???)... Have fun!
