I had an idea when i was little, to build an electric power plant which collects lightning bolts and transfers it into usable electricity. I don't think it's invented yet.

Not me but one of my students when I was teaching in a poor village invented the computers :)

He never knew what a computer was and what it could do. One day I wanted them to use their imagination and write about how life would be in 50 years. He described computers without even knowing. I was both very sad and happy at the same time. He had that light in him but no opportunities.

Hey I invented cell phones too :-) When I was younger, I would always take our home phone off the hook and take it with me around the backyard. Unfortunately, a home phone can only work with a short distance :-(

Mine wasn't an invention although it was an idea. Way back 1992, There was an opening for the Kenny Rogers exclusive franchise in the Philipines and all we needed at that time was only about $40k.

Of course my parents hadn't heard of Kenny Rogers yet and refused it. Another Chinese friend of theirs got the francise because they told him of my "nonsense" business venture to-be. Since he thought the investment was minimal, he gave it a go. Now it's one of the most successful chains in the country. I have sooo much regret when I pass them by thinking of what could have been.

Epilogue:

A year ago, they asked us if we wanted to franchise a McDonalds for about 500K USD, I told them, "Are you guys crazy?", ironically it was the same thing they said to me years ago. ^_^

Seriously!! When I started working in 1990- yeah I know, I am old , 37 so what???:P- I was desperate to have some files from the Ä°zmir office to Ankara office and I remember thinking " why is the no such way to connect the computers so that we can go into each others PC and collect what we want.":)))

I learned later that Internet was being used on plot spots in US and Europe but we didn't have it and we didn't know about it . Why? Because there was no Internet to learn it from :D

When I was in 4th grade, we have done an imaginary writing about what would be a great thing in the future that we would want to build. I have talked about building a magnetic train, where no fuel is needed. Back than the TV constantly focused on oil prices... So I was very much influenced by such talk of adults and TV... My train would be on a track above the ground on a bridge... The magnets at one end and the other would run it. There would be a shield to stop it at its stops... Well, better engineered ones are used all over the place now.

I had the idea for Green Dot cards ten years ago and even contacted investment capitalists about it. I called my idea "Swiss-A-Card" A play on the Swiss system of numbered bank accounts and the credit card nomenclature of Discover card and Master card.

I also invented a system of text messaging about 20 years ago, but admittedly, my code was overly elaborate.

I invented the iphone.... I have been using Mac since '78. It was Apple then so I feel like a part of the company, and I was being silly, so I wrote to the company and said, "if you make a phone it will really be the best, so do it." Then they came out with a lame phone that they made with Motorola, it ran Mac programs. At the time Motorola was really lame, a very dumb choice. So I wrote back and told them, "no stupid, make a COOL phone that looks and works like an ipod," I signed agreements that gave up any rights to the idea, like anyone who sends an idea to mac has to. so I got nothing. Not even a istore gift certificate:(

I actually created the universe. But this jerk in the cubicle next to me, God, completelt ripped me off and stole the whole idea.

Now everybody praises God. And where does that leave me? I get funny looks when I don't go to church on Sunday.

Totally cool with it though, I completely pinned the Steinberg contract fall through on him.
