In Russia a huge variety of meal. I think it not so differs from European meal. Therefore silly to speak, that Russian eat only a beet and a borshch. I did not eat them very long.
Come to Russia and look itself. Anything inedible here is not present |

Hi! Don't believe about Chernobyl meat. Chernobyl situates in Ucrain and Russia and Ucrain aren't friends at the moment.
So I dont think they exchange much of the food nowadays. Just be conscious what do you eat and where. For example don't buy snacks in the small cafee-shops(kiosks).
You will find a lot of fruts and vegetables from the southern regions of Russian Federation in the local markets.
Ask people and they give you good advices where to eat.
The main dishes are as follows: pelmeni, golubcy, kotlety, otbivnyje, beef stroganov (made of meat or with meat);
kotlety po Kijevski(chicken), syrniki, different bliny etc.
Enjoy your time. |

You should be careful! Russian food is completely indigestible! They eat strange meals - after all there are only poor people. Vodka and cabbage are the only things that they can afford. And look out, Russians eat Vegetarians!!
??Girl, when I go abroad, eating isn't my biggest problem ;P |

I don't think so. My friends growing up were russian and they ate things like borsct(spelling) and pilaf. Both were YUMMY!! I think they use a lot of cabbage and veggies. Try wikkipedia and type in a search engine russian cuisine.

Well, I'm sure they eat more then Cabbage, but my sister says it seems to be in most of the meals she had while she was there. I suspect that it will depend on what you can afford . |

Plan on veggies, sauerkraut, coleslaw like salads, bread, vodka, snickers bars made with Swiss chocolate, fat (pure fat) - looks like clear jello. They do have meat but it's wise to avoid it as much as possible because back during Chernobyl they took a lot of the cattle and livestock near the meltdown and shipped the meat off to different areas of the country so the people wouldn't be eating all that meat full of radiation. But they do have fish if you end up needing extra protein. Have a good trip!! |
