What do Turkish people think of Obama?

I mean, what are your individual opinions?
Additional Details
I can understand. I'm a little indifferent to Ataturk, because he did not effect me.

Dear friends i think u r mixing smt.no need to put 2 different things in same basket.ATATÜRK was surely a great commander a great man.Felt sorry to see that u r talking about ATATÜRK for this type of question.

İ really love him.He looks like a humanist, clever man.And i am soooooo so happy as a human living on this planet that we got rid of G.Bush.

Hope that everything ll be fine with him.And as i saw on todays news he signed the agreement to close Guatenama by 2009 which means that he ll do the things that he promised to do.So wellcome dear Mr.PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!GOD BLESS U!

I am indifferent to your question.

What has Atatürk anything to do with Obama? Jeez!

Atatürk was the best of the leaders of that time.

Obama is just an American president. He managed to offend China in his first speech as a president. Way to go! We didn't really expect anything different.

amada
If I could be able to vote in U.S., I'd vote Obama.
I especially hated Palin.
All the World is expecting so much of Obama.
Turks generally seem to like him, but are a bit cautious, as he seems to be in favour of accusing us for the holocaust of Armenians.
It is still too early to rate him. We'll see what he will be doing for both U.S. and for the World.

P.S. Dear friends, the asker gave an answer to the first answerer when he said that he was not affected by Ataturk. Please, don't be so ready to get offended.

♥Barış Awareness♥
So, your a little indifferent to
Ataturk, well in Turkey that
thought will get you 5-10 in a
Turkish jail. And apparently liking
Obama may already be an insult to
turkishness, which explains how
a speech where he speaks
out against fascism and communism,
is criticized for being offensive, cause
like China had to do a little editing,
cutting, and disrespecting of a US president's
right to freedom of speech, as if people
in China had no idea what the cold war
was all about. Yea, you can see how this
would be offensive alright.

EDIT: "as a turk i don't like obama!"
hey, that is really, really a good reason,
much better then the one who doesn't like
him because he is against fascism. lol

ADD:) Thanks, I know I don't
say it often enough, but
I am truly touched
by the transparency of
anger and frustration
displayed from the
cleverness and truthfulness
you guys find in my answers, which
has been duly noted by
the first 2 lines of all
your answers always
having my name and
a personally reference
to my race in them.
Gee, that's swell.
Other then the fact you guys have
missed the entire
point of YA answers, I can only
gather, it must be much
more gratifying for you both,
rather then just giving me
a simple thumbs up..

Are you Turkish now Baris? The poster asked what TURKISH people think of Obama, and since your not Turkish,we can speak for ourselfs thankyou very much.Next time ill help you out when he asks what Armenians think of Obama ok?

I think Obama is a talented speaker, but its to early to make an opinion on his new policies.Come back in a year or so and we'll have a better idea.

EDIT

No Baris, noone here misses the point of Yahoo except you friend. Its always been you who has been on the wrong path here. You dont ever contribute any positive or helpful information in the Turkish travel section, only bitterness and personal attacks on users, which is why your known for what you are.

As a Turkish-American, I can honestly say I have high hopes for Obama. I'm just waiting to see if he'll make the promises he has proposed. As for other Turks' opinions, many of them that I know feel the same way. You can't really judge somebody until they've finished the job. As far as I know, Obama was sworn in just this week,,,I think he has time to become a good leader.

Leprechaun
Just another American.Names change, the rest is same.

Keyser you know as well as I do that Alana is an American and not an Armenian, and gosh darn she feels closer to the Turks than any other nation!

No anyway, I'm just wondering how you're comparing Ataturk to Obama, he's been in the office for two days and he's already a revolutionary leader? Wait until he actually starts to change things before jumping into conclusions. It is proven that big changes like that in the office (first black president, first woman president) usually have disastrous (might be an exaggeration though) effects, I know all Turks will remember Tansu Ciller ("Trabzon'u Akdeniz'in incisi yapacam!"). I personally would have played it safe and gone for Hilary, I know her plans, I know how she's going to act like while Obama still is unclear on a number of things in my opinion. But it is a great thing what happened in the States and gives people hope. No one believes McCain should have been the president elect, and like Keyser said Obama is an exceptional speaker. Honestly, I do think he's gonna make things change but revolutionary? I doubt it, there are no revolutionaries left to make drastic changes, everyone is too scared about the international opinion.

And don't think Turkish people think otherwise, while a good number might be indifferent to the political happenings around the world, meetings were organized prior to the election to root for Obama. The Turkish media was also very sympathetic towards Obama.

Emily S
as a turk i dont like obama!

whats all the thumbs down for oww let me guess you think im "racist" because i dont like obama!
