Every danish person would know what mashed potatoes are. Potatoes are a huge staple here in Denmark. If she doesn't like what is served at your school, she should be packing her own lunch. Danish people eat the same things as american people, they just don't eat quite as much junk food or drink quite as much soda. My fiance eats all the same things I do as an american, we just homecook way more than we eat out. I think this danish girl is just VERY picky.

Food?

A packed school lunch in Denmark would almost always consist of a sandwich and fruit. Danes definitely eat potatoes--just not so much for lunch. Open-face sandwiches are an art form in Denmark, so if your school mate takes off the top piece of bread, don't be alarmed!

People in Denmark are really in to red sausages. But unfortunately, there illegal in the US for having to much fat in them. On Christmas they eat pork, duck or goose, potatoes, cabbage, brown potatoes (she'll know what that is) and rice pudding for dessert. If you want to start a conversation with her. ask her who found the biggest piece in the rice pudding. (she'll know what that means) and ask her if shes ever been to the experiment center in Copenhagen. She'll totally feel at home. Hope this helps!! : )

(Danes don't really eat mashed potatoes.)
