Food usually, lol !!
I'm Greek, and we have a varied diet to be honest , we eat the usual staff on a daily basis, you know, pasta, veg, meat etc.
There seems to be a myth that we live on moussaka, olives and feta cheese...no, we eat those things now and again but usually we get our Indian or Italian cookery books out and get adventurous , lol
The Greeks like to eat barbecued meat, fresh salads ,fresh fish and have many people around them to enjoy it with .
There are not many Greek vegetarians however, I don't know any, so I guess meat is high on the list of food preference.
Trust me, it depends on where we live, on whether it is a special occasion , there's nothing specific really .
Hope that helps :)

Surfer Sam...the Algarve is not Greece, there are no Greek people there, but diet is fairly similar :)

If it's Easter, they like to eat lamb heads, lamb tongue, and lamb brains. Some boiled greens with oliveoil and lemon will make the meal complete!!

Olive oil is present in almost every dish and they use flavorings more often. They use fresh vegetables and vegetarian recipes are usual.
What is popular:

Greek salad with every meal
Fresh Fish of any kind
Kalamari= squid (fried or sautéed with onions and red wine)
Gyros (gee'ros.)
Octopus grilled on charcoal with lemon.
Spinach Pie
Cheese Pie

Hattie-la
stuffed vine leaves (i think they are horrible though)

lots of things, moussaka is a famous greek dish. they also use alot of feta cheese, olive oil, salads, fresh fish. when i was in corfu their local speciality was kumquat jam

cam
I think they are called Gyros?

phocaena4680
Mousakas for one thing

BLUES
if you go to the rural country sites than the food becomes what we would call uneatable.
they slaughter a sheep, the whole sheep, except the head, will be grilled at an open fire from all sides.
in the meantime they put the complete head into an oven and let it go for a couple of hours.
they eat the whole thing, brain,eyes,tong....
the people in the small villages are still poor and can not afford to eat fancy food. Basic bread, some vegetables, olives thats it.

in the citys they are civilized and eat the food that we know about from greec restaurants.

Samuel
When I went to the Algarve they had things like fish and tomatoes.
