What do you think about the following quote?

Amare et sapere vix deo conceditur
(Even a god finds it hard to love and be wise at the same time)

I agree: Radix malorum cupiditas est.....

There is a verse from the wonderful play Le Misanthrope by Moliere, ending "ce n' est pas la raison ce qui regle l'amour"
(it' s not reason that governs love).

As for Alex and Dellarovere, if you continue writing in latin I will report you for incomprehensible text, lol! (Not knowing latin is my only complex). Just kidding, ok?

It is true, then it depends on the human being how he ajusts his life...It is up to us to find a balance between both...otherwise
quod ab initio vitiosum est non potest tractu temporis convalescere and in this case even God can not save...(if something is vicious from the beginning,it cant be repaired with the time)

It's right, but not for the God.
That quote, as it is obvious, has been said to show how difficult is for a human being to be wise (means in his judge), merciful and softhearted at the same time.
Otherwise he/she would be a God!!

In other words only a fool can fall in love...Maybe...
hey, I am not a fool:)
PS: I am impressed with the Latin and Italian responces, now if someone could translate for the rest of us .... :-)

Must be from some fake Idol.

The one and only true God doesn't think like this.

Well...its rather hard to judge or find that God finds something like that because we have been taught that God never finds hard virtually anything....simply because HE IS God....Had the quotation like "Even wisest scholar finds it hard to love and be wise at the same time.." things would have been different to opine.

ele
I so agree with that...I was famous for my logic and how I never lost my aim and achieved my goals...I recently fell in love for the first time and did things I couldn't believe, things a sane person wouldn't do...love knows no logic...even the love of parents to their kids...haven't we heard of people who killed or did other things for the sake of their children?

one Greek girl was telling me one time that the love does not have eyes !! so the logic if you are in love it could well be not the best for you !!

Is it wise to love, or love to be wise?
