Lorem Ipsum... you know... the placeholder text people use that looks like a real language, but isn't.

This, my friend, is the very definition of gibberish. And the thing is... it's OFFICIAL gibberish too! Professionals use this when they want to build a layout, but don't have the text yet.

Look at some of the questions posted here that have no idea what correct spelling or grammar should be. They are good examples of gibberish, or nonsensical mumbo-jumbo [in any language].

Questions that do actually have correct spelling and grammar, but are pointless or asinine, could also be considered gibberish. These would include questions like "What would you do for a Klondike bar?", or "Do farts smell?" or "What's my name?".

Just read the questions here. You'll see some wonderful examples of perfectly unintelligible gibberish!

I think it looks a bit like messy liquorice- but I would be glad too, if someone knew the origin of the word!

You think it's Polish or Russian, eh? Being fluent in Russian and able to write and speak in Polish quite well, I can tell you that you can eliminate those two. You don't want to know what an impolite Russian or Pollock would tell you if they knew what you thought of their language...lucky you: I'm polite.

Russian and Polish (or any of the Slavic languges) have enough rules of grammar to make English look like gibberish. Honestly, Russian verbs and the rules that go with their endings are rather impressive, intimidating, and just downright scary at times. But I suspect that it's because Russian has a number of linguistic ambiguitites that make it excellent for things like poetry. Polish is the same way, and when you look at the cyrillic alphabet, or the Polish writing system which is Latin based, you see that they aren't as different from our writing system as first glance may make you think. If anything, Russian (Cyrillic) looks like angular Greek, and written Polish just looks like it's wearing barbed wire on occasion.

Real gibberish though, can be found all over Yahoo Answers, especially if it is centered around arcane religious rants that have nothing to do with the topics at hand.
