opera_and_bullwhips
Melek in Turkish means angel. It is used commonly in the Middle East as a name.

It comes to the Turkish language from the Arabic word malak, which means angel. It is in masculine form in Arabic, but since Turkish has no masculine or feminine forms, it can be either a girl's or boy's name.
There are many different spellings. In Arabic the word malak is actually spelled mlk, because Arabic vowel sounds are written as punctuation. You may see it spelled in English as Malak, Malek, Melek, Malik, Melik, etc.
