It is mortally dangerous these days to go out with mini skirts and tank tops.

The reason being, it is very cold outside and you might catch your death. What was the question again?

I am a Turkish citizen myself. And I am a girl who doesn't use the hijam or bourqua. To be very honest with you, it is very very unusual if someone wears one. Even wearing a hijab. In some areas it is even illegal to wear it, and if someone wears it, then there will be protested against them sometimes. Turkey is a free country, and if you go towards istanbul and ankara, there are many modern people. Just because turkey is a muslim country, doesnt mean that everyone wears a hijam. Read about ataturk, and you'll find out why no one wears it.
Our country isnt that involved with religion to much, however, it might be now that we have a bad pri-minister.

Amanda
It is actually banned in Turkey now to wear Islamic dress that covers your face.

Orla C
It was outlawed.

I've seen more women in burqas in NYC than I have in Ankara, Konya or Istanbul. No lie. I am an Irish-American woman with light skin and blue eyes and I look like any other woman here. When I go into a store, people immediately start speaking Turkish because they assume I am local. Until I answer them, of course. :) Don't let people get nasty with you. I had many misconceptions of Turkey before I got here. It shows you have respect for cultural differences and customs and people in Turkey appreciate that. The only time I have had to wear a head scarf is when visiting a mosque (sightseeing, not praying) and they kindly offer you one at the entrance to borrow.

mybabyefe
nothing happens, the girls here are hardly covered up anymore... its alot more westernised now therefor there,s no problem.

Aygen I
Nothing really because most girls in Turkey including myself don't wear the headscarf or bur'qa, infact in certain universities and proviences it's banned!
If you go to more conservitive places in Turkey then mabe they will expect a woman to wear the veil but for the most part no. Mainly older women, Shias, and women from rual areas wear the veil.

macedonian Ambassador
Leave them alone!
you need good spanking, in greek style!

Jen
Nothing

starlight
We use hijab now, it's better.

THESSALONIKI IS NOT GREEK
When they don't use the burqa, that means they are trying to be prostitute

MaCeDonIan PhaLanX
Nothing!
Go check your "girls" in greek travel section, last time I heard they were looking for you!
