To name JUST a few:

Huge amounts of oil and natural gas.
Magnificent park and architectural ensembles in several locations: St. Petersburg, Kizhi in Karelia, "Golden Ring" of old Russian towns, etc., etc.
Having Gulag and killing millions of its people in camps.
Having Stalin and winning the WWII.
Taking first object - Sputnik - into space. Taking the very first human being - Gagarin - into space.
Surviving after political (and social, and structural, yada-yada) system crash.
Having (as they say) more Maybach cars in Moscow than the entire Europe these days.
Being a native ground for Faberge, Shalyapin, Nabokov and Maria Sharapova.

Enough? :)

Rome
Music- Chaikovsky,
Literature-Dostoevsky
Great achievements in sports, especially you see it in boxing.
If all you know about Russia is Vodka ,it just tells me that you never went to school.

I would guess it is: Sputnik, Ballet and LOTS of snow

(as to the last one, I had a friend to whom it came as a complete surprise when I told him that in Moscow temperature in the summer goes up to 80-90 Fahrenheit - he thought it was cold year around).

Definitely for cold weather even though it is not much colder than in Canada. Everyone is asking me about cold weather and looks very surprised when I say that we have hot summers as well. Most of them think that we have winter 12 months a year.

More and more for its wealth.Russia is on the way to be not only a new super power militarily but also economically with high oil price, thriving industries and minerals.

Russia is also a top exporter of weapons to India,Syria, Iran and many other countries in war.

Not much else - almost everybody who contributed to what Russians claim to be their country's "rich history" was either German or Dutch or Tatar or, well, we all know - Ukrainian.
