for my history class we have to make a food that represnts the WHOLE culture of europe. what food do you think represents it all? Additional Details i know its overgenralizing but its the assignmen i was given so i cant contorl it.
You can always say that you did some research and reading and that no such thing as 'a General European food' came out.
I find it unbelievable that any teacher whould give such an assignment.
But if it's true, challenge them with your own findings or ask them to show any resources they might have on the subject.
There's always a way to do it in a peaceful, assertive way.

what an absurd assignment - you can hardly represent a region correctly given what is available in america [our flour is not at all like european flour, sugar is not really their sugar ... and so forth] but she/he wants the entire continent - talk about not writing out a lesson plan.
europeans are really quite healthy -- lots of veggies [whatever is in season since locally grown is far cheaper than imports]. depending on the country, meat may be a staple [germany is big on beef/pork] at every meal but then again, other countries that is not the case [norway eats very little beef/pork -- more lamb + fish -- less land required of course] every country has their favorite breads/ desserts/ chocolate -- that seems to be a constant despite borders.
your best bet may be to just start going through cookbooks - find something for each course from somewhere completely distinct [but with ingredients you can find + a recipe you can follow!]
good luck - what a silly assignment - good idea - bad execution on the teacher's part.

There is no one food which would generally represent all the countries within Europe that would not at the same time also represent other continents such as Australasia or North America to be honest
I'm a little surprised that a history teacher would ask for such a thing..... I do really worry about what kids are being taught at school these days
My answer for the project would be to throw it back to her saying exactly that - it can only be a "trick" question for the reasons mentioned

Europe is a BIG continent. There are about 50 different cultures in Europe. Be more specific.
