Well I am British and have lived here for seven years now and I have to say it’s great. The people are so friendly here and they will do anything for you! Please don’t be swayed by prettyh8mashee’s post times have changed and Poland is becoming a more and more modern society; the changes that I seen in the time that I have lived here has been enormous.
And if you really want to find out more about Poland then visit this forum, as it is written English site and Polish and English people chat here and discuss things all manner of things and you will be very welcome. I am ukpolska on there by the way. have fun :O) http://www.polishforums.com/
If you don't know anything about it chisholm =] then don't post!!!! |

I lived there for a year. The pace of life is much slower than in the UK. If you're going for a weekend it will probably be to Warsaw or Krakow or possibly Gdansk. Both are very interesting historical cities and you'll find plenty to do to occupy yourself. Krakow, in particular, was becoming more westernised when I was there: I hope it hasn't changed too much.
You really need more than a weekend to appreciate Poland. Concentrate on the city that you fly to. |

Depends on where you're going. Krakow is gorgeous...old world charm. The palace is worth visiting and there's an old church in the middle of the square. Oh and lots of gorgeous and affordable amber jewelry to buy! The food is great too...sour soup and perogis! |

I worked with a lovely nurse from Krakow in Poland. I asked her lots of questions about Poland.
She did tell me that Poland is generally a poor but very beautiful country but that the people are warm and friendly. She stated often that she missed home as she found the British as a whole quite unfriendly. She liked earning better money over here but sadly she ended up returning to her family in Poland.
She was the nicest carer I'd ever worked with. So gentle, patient and kind to the patients. Also she was a very, very hard worker!
I know two people that visited the POW camps and found it highly emotional almost unbearable. They both stated it was eerie with no birds or sounds that you could almost feel the emotions and suffering there. |

I went to poland around 10 years ago... I found it interesting but sad. The country is so poor, they never really got over the war. Their idea of a highway is an old road full of big cracks. If you take time to visit such a place as auschwitz, you will feel great sadness for what they went through, hard to see.
Apart from that, I found the people very lovely and the history around you intersting and easily absorbed. There is a lot of religion too, but if you're like me you enjoy the beauty that comes with it even if you dont believe.
Poland is definately worth a visit! enjoy your break |

well i am polish and it depends where you are going a lot of the houses are huge and cool my uncle is rich and he owns a company called dolcan so he is rich and my cousins house is huge and he gets all of the coolest stuff but my other cousins hosue is really small like 1 bedroom for 6 people so almost anyway you should go to krakow and visit wieliczka salt mine also you should visit czestochowa everything is very beautiful.
they have a lot of mcdonalds with better food than american mcdonalds more options too, they have little burger kings though, sushi is pretty expensive, they have good pizza, and everything is really cheap.
if you go to the countryside there are like 0 laws, no cops, pretty much do anything you want cuz hardly anyone will call the cops, most of the people there are old people, and every single old lady will say your very handsome, cute, etc. and they will give you free candy (the expensive kind) if they know who you are if you go to jerzyska go to a little family run store call groszik everything is really cheap there like an ice cream bar is 20 cents, a small box of wooden matches is like 3 cents each, oh and you can drive a car even of you dont have a license cuz there are no cops and stuff
anyway it is awesome there for
oh yeah dont leave your car unlocked evne for a couple minutes in the city cuz you will usually get robbed |
