What is the best European country to visit over the summer?

I'm traveling to Europe this summer, but I don't know where to go or what to see? Any suggestions? What are some good "sight-seeing" attractions?

It all depends on what you want to do.

Are you a partying kind of person? Go to one of the Spanish islands!
Are you interested in culture? Go to France!
Do you like great paintings and religion? Go to Italy.
Do you love wine? Go to Portugal.
Are you interested in history? Go to Great Britain!
Do you want to see democracy developing? Go to one of the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania).
Do you want to go somewhere totally different? Go visit the Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway).

Plenty of things to do in Europe :-)

Do yourself a favor and see as many countries as possible. I am American and live in Europe, and I would highly recommend you see as many of the following as possible (in this order):
London (so much to see... take the Sightseeing tour first, and decide what you want to see from there), Dublin (best drinking city in the world), Paris (probably the most beautiful city I've seen, but the French are jerks to Americans), Rome (ancient Roman sites, like the Colisseum), Amsterdam (crazy city!), Istanbul (best place for shopping). I haven't been to Warsaw or Prague yet, but I have also heard they are really nice.

Germany is a beautiful country to travel through, with a rich history. They offer a "Schoenes Wochende" (Happy Weekend) pass for only 35 Euro, where you can have unlimited train travel throughout the country every weekend, and it covers up to 4 people on one pass. It's a cheap way to travel and you can pick and choose where you want to go. A bonus is that most Germans speak great English, and they are usually happy to help tourists out.

Also, if you want to fly cheaply between cities, check out Ryan Air and Wizz Air. They are discount airlines that fly between European cities for next to nothing, and it might be a way you can see as many places as possible.

I'll be happy to provide you some more info if you want to email me. Have fun!!

P.S. Fly United to and from the US if you can... they offer the best in-flight services and biggest seats in economy. It is a long flight, and worth the extra couple of hundred bucks. Do not fly KLM- they are the worst! Being squished for 9 1/2 hours is an awful experience.

I would visit Iceland. In summer it would be warm and quite nice to see the awesome volcanic lagoons and such.
