Try a mixture, and if you have a maestro card that allows for free foreign withdrawal use that by preference (woolwich, first direct and others).

Euro Notes and Coins (probably up to 500)
Maestro Card for Majority if free
Euro Travellers Cheques(Majority if Maestro not fee)
Sterling Notes (Emergency up to 500)

Lisa
I would just take a Visa debit card and draw cash out of ATMs as you need it... if possible take a back-up card as well tho, just in case of mishaps!! I can't remember the last time I took cash on holiday... or anywhere else for that matter :)

Hi y´all !

Rhodos is Greek and Greece has the Euro. So it does not make sense to take Sterling, since you would have to change it for Euros anyhow.

lintagr
Euros and credit cards are more acceptable.

Euro travellers cheque.

Go for citibank's World Money Card (WMC). By using this travellers debit card you can withdraw the local currency of the country you are visiting, normally through ATM. If you want more currency, anyone at your home can simply deposit in your account & your card becomes credible again.

soubassakis
Euros and credit cards

Bring your ATM card - you can get euro from an ATM.
Traveller's cheques are a rip-off and not everywhere cashes them.

If you must, bring a back up amount of a few hundred euro in traveller's cheques, but otherwise use the ATMs - you will get a much better rate.

See http://www.squidoo.com/Rhodes/ for more information.
