you are right those three islands do have everything you want. now i would tell to you to go to Mykonos
mykonos is the hottest island in greece.
it represents greece. you will find there the best nightclubs. there are no words to describe the view the view is fantastic. and you can meet the whole civilization of Greece in just that one island.
it is the most sexy island and i believe a trip there will stay in your mind forever.
the food is fantastic the people are very kind too so i guess you have my answer now
trust me Mykonos is the best place.
now you decide so have fun searching but wherever you go in Greece you will always have good memories.so have fun and enjoy...

Mykonos is too noisy, Santorini is a beautiful place for the landscape, that you will not find anywhere in the world and I am non exaggerating (the architecture is one of a kind, due to the volcano, but the beaches are not really good. I live in Greece and I am a passionate swimmer).
I would say that Corfu, Rhodes, Zante and Mylos are the perfect places.
I am giving you this site to search for all the islands yourself:
www.nyloo.com
and this one to look for Zante (my favorite): www.zanteisland.com.

jack of all trades
Mykonos is too touristy. Santorini is beautiful, and almost as touristy as Mykonos. Sifnos is my favorite.

Ancient spirit
Definitely Santorini!!!!!

Well, Basil, u are right, each has it's own character. I could not say there is one best place.....but perhaps u could visit a few islands that are close together........ferries come and go all the time. I do not think Mykonos is the best. Of course, Mykonos is something that everyone should see at least once ....but it is so noisy, so crowded and is not the REAL Greece. In the summer you can hardly find a Greek there! All the bars and shops are run by foreigners!!! Santorini is better... Or how about Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos? Three islands very close together....

I would say Mykonos. Out of the 6 islands I visited a few wks ago this one was the best. It is beautiful and gives me goosebumps when I think abou tit.

However most of the night life we ran into was for the GAY lifestyle. So research before you go.

My second fave was Santorini. You can hop between the two Islands. A week is enough I think. Congrats!

I would say Mykonos too! On most postcards you can either see Mykonos or Santorini! Whilst Santorini is stunning because of the crater, it is also isolated. Mykonos allows for more island hopping! Great beaches there and you can choose between tranquility and hectic life! All my best to you and whatever you decide, have a great honeymoon!

Hydra is fantastic. Clean (no cars allowed on the is.) It's exactly like you imagined Gr to be. Big families loudly having lunch, fresh caught calamari dangling on any free railing, clear waters. Take the walk up to the monastery to get a stunning panoramic shot of the shot. Haven't been to Poros, but friends tell me that is good for nightlife stuff. Catch the ferry from Pireaus - about 15-20euros. You can choose the fast (1 hr) or the slow (2-ish hrs) ferry. Worth it.

You'll never get anyone to agree on what the "best" island is, as they are all different and people have different tastes.

I'll answer your question with my own experiences though as I have been to all of those mentioned,

Kos - very touristy, very busy, not very romantic generally (sorry I don't much like Kos, it always seems to me to be built for the purposes of getting drunk)
Mykonos - great nightlife, but very busy and touristy and (I would think) not ideal for honeymooners
Santorini - lovely island, very romantic, but horribly busy, very touristy and not very nice beaches
Corfu - bits of it are lovely, there are some nice beaches, but it can get very busy
Rhodes - tourist trap, beautiful place to go out of season

We went to Paxos (the next island down from Corfu) for our honeymoon and stayed in Lakki in the north. The beaches were lovely, it was quiet and romantic, and the tavernas were little local places with lovely food and lovely people. When we wanted a bit of nightlife, we drove down to the main town and harbour, Gaios, where the big boats come in and you can party, eat and drink and buy jewellery! You can then go back to your quiet spot when you've had enough of this.

Santorini, from first-hand experience, is the place to go for honeymooners! Beautiful landscape, there is a good nightlife, the people are very warm, food is good (great fish!)and it is a very romantic place!! The beaches are really nice, too. I went there for my honeymoon with my wife, and we have no regrets whatsoever.

Have a look through the reports on the islands here, and it might help you to make your mind up.
I would vote for Crete myself. Great place, Great people
