What is the best repellant to stop mosquito bites?

We are going to Turkey the first week in October and we want to avoid getting mosquito bites. We were in Bulgaria July/August of this year and had numerous bites even although we used insect repellant spray and also used one of the insect repellant plugs in our room. Do you have any suggestions?

Your best bet is AUTAN spray or milk or cream. And use BAYGON insect repllant plugs at night (when the mossies bite the most). I use this in Greece where I live and the little buggers love me!! (I am sure you will find it in Turkish supermarkets as well). You can also buy stick on patches from chemists, but they don't work as well as AUTAN. Good luck and have a great holiday

Citronella. Light citronella candles in the room. If you do get bitten try a Chinese remedy. 'White flower oil' - often marketed as a cure for headaches, but it works a treat - stops the itching immediately. Wearing long sleeves doesn't work. Those mosies are very penetrating! If you must use chemicals, then Autan is the best bet,

C'mon, you'll be in Turkey not in a jungle. Just buy a plug-in from the market and use it. In October, it'll be hard to see any of them around, they just appear in the summer time, but not a big deal.
I used Raid liquid plug-in which is effective for 45 nites and costs only 8 YTL (about 4 euro). Nevermind the mosquitos, enjoy ypur holiday ...

stay in the uk! no seriously, use deet spray, use jungle formula plug in repeelants.wear long sleeves, cover up at night, use mosquito nets,avon/loreal not sure product called" skin so soft" it us used by US marines in the jungle.stay indoors at dusk.I spent 7 months in indonesia and india.I took malarone anti malaria tablets too.I survived malaria free.dont go near rubbish bins ,uneaten food,or standing /stagnant water eg lakes swamps etc.or in jungles or very rural excursions

you can use jungle formula or take away those plug-in repellants, that seems to keep them away.

this is very true and i tried it myself mud i swear

Take vitamin B12 tablets there's something they don't like about it, there's some real cheap cr@p from Avon that works really well too. Citronella is another good one.

My husband always used to get loads of bites when we went to turkey, some of the locals told him to buy a product called kov,its what they all use ,you can buy it in most turkish supermarkets and pharmacies and is quite cheap......and it worked like a dream!

Pixxxie
Eat a slice of Marmite on toast every morning. Once its in your blood, mozzies won't come near you.

Avon Bug Guard by skin-so-soft has a variety of products that work extremely well.

I suggest you to use "Off Sinekkovar". It has also a nice scent. Its duration is more than 5 hours. I have used it several times and never get bitten. You can buy it in the pharmacies.
