What is the best way to take currency GBP to Turkey--holiday?

You can bring your GBP with you as there are plenty of change offices here, also the banks and post offices provide change facilities. Another option is to just use your debit card to withdraw money from the cash dispensers as you need it, although I believe a small fee is payable on each transaction, but at least you'll only have the card to look after, rather than a lot of cash. (Most hotels do have safety deposit boxes). A more expensive option is to use a credit card. If I was a tourist, I would use a combination of both cash and debit card, ie., bring a little cash, but mostly draw on the debit card. A credit card is always useful, 'just in case'. Some people still like to use Travellers Cheques, as they have the advantage of replacement should they be lost of stolen, but that's a personal choice. One other thing, it is a good idea to change a very small amount of GBP into Turk Lirasi (the min your bank will do) before travelling, in case you want to use it as soon as you arrive, eg., refreshments, trolley at the airport, etc. It's true that the locals here will accept GBP, but on small items you often end up getting a poor exchange rate, ie., you'll pay more than the item is really worth! Have a great holiday!

Bring your credit/debit cards with you. Visa, Master, American Express etc are widely accepted in almost all shops, hotels, and restaurants. You can use your card to draw cash at ATMs at your bank's commission rate. You can also exchange GBP at any bank or exchange office in Turkey. Just check banks' or exchange office's digital display boards for the daily rates.
Of course, shopkeepers will accept them for slightly lower rates than banks, which is normal. When I travel to UK I get some GBP in cash and also use my credit cards there. You can do the same in Turkey.
Have a nice holiday. Do taste "doner kebab" and "baklava" but make sure it's a quality place. I don't want you to taste the cheap kind and get disappointed. Ask any properly dressed gentleman to advise you on that :)

Id recommend travelers cheque if you want your money secured but to be honest turkey is quite safe compared to other countries and i always take a mix halfturkish and half english as its widely accepted there.

I had an american express travellers card. They are almost the same as travellers cheques and can be used in most shops, resturants etc. You can also use them to draw money out at most cash points. To look at it looks like a credit or debit card,
