Thanking you for your kind and thoughtful message for condolences as to my father's death, I would answer that my personal limit is the death of a familiar person. An experience I would never have the courage to experience once more.

Not that we shouldn't fear. Fear can cause the "Fight or Flight" response, ensuring our survival.

I, too, have a fear of spiders. But can I say I would never touch one? No, I cannot. Because to do so implies I would never do such under any circumstance. Arachnophobia does indeed limit my willingness to even go near one. But, when faced with a "Do or Die", save myself or loved ones, situation - ultimately their's and mine survival becomes more important to me than "mentally protecting" myself from what I fear.

I've always felt this way; I guess I can trace it back to watching my favorite movie "The Wizard of Oz" as a kid and seeing the Cowardly Lion, though afraid, facing it to help his friends. Funny, maybe. But that is how I am.

Courage is closely related to heroism.

I wouldn't want to touch a spider either, but I'd jump into a spiders nest to save my grandson. I wouldn't bungee jump for entertainment, but I'd do it for my country. I don't like blood but I have put my mouth on the bloodied lips of a young man as he died. Courage is what you do when you are called on to be a hero. Don't mix it up with fear.

I used to say i would try anything. now I'm older and have disabilities I'm not so brave. I'd like to bungee but I physically can't. I would not swim with sharks, never, no way, ever!!!!!!

I bungee jumped - bad idea, bad bad idea :P- , flew with a Delta- T glider , I baby sit a ball python and a chimpanzee so I can manage a spider very easily, hey, I managed to stay alive 38 years in Turkish traffic but the limit to my courage stops when it comes to sleeping home alone in total darkness :)).

I admit, that is the thing that scares me most :)

Can you put a limit on courage? You either have it or you dont. I dont think there should be limits. :)
