I flew with thompson last week and it was 20kg for suitcases but also 10kg for hand luggage, but like others have said it depends on the airline as ive flown with BA and was allowed 24kg.

You're still allowed two suitcases on international flights but the maximum weight was changed (less!) recently. I know, 'cos I just paid, $80 an extra case from San Antonio, TX to LHR - I think maximum weight on each is 20 kilos but you might call American Airlines or other major airline to check; or easier type in www.aa.com and go to baggage allowance.

ribena
Tell me which airline and I'll tell you exactly how much. Usually it is 20kgs.

AUM
If you are flying from the US is 50 lbs limit, it will cost you $25.00 for anything above 50 lbs. up to 75 lbs. from that point it will be more money, but if you are travelling to Europe, they will not let you travel with luggage heavier than 75 lbs. due to their local regulations.
Good luck

OriginalBubble
It depends on your airline, and where you are travelling to. it should say on your ticket

Normally 20kg, anything extra you have to pay for especially if flying with someone like easyjet, you pay when you check in if not you don't get on...

Contact your tour operator as some companies are different...

20kg anything over you pay excess baggage, dont know how much.

How big is your suitcase?

Seriously though, if you're talking about airline luggage allowance then it depends on the airline. Most allow 20kg, others vary. Check with your travel agent or your airline rep.

Outside of planes, it depends on the suitcase. Check with the manufacturers to see what kind of load that suitcase can take.

It would also depend on where you are. A good guideline is that Health and Safety regulations in the UK put the maximum allowable load to be handled by 1 person at 25kg. So from that you can make the assumption that if the suitcase is to be carried by one person, then the total weight of the suitcase itself and its contents should not be more than 25kg.

But then again, if you overfill your suitcase then hurt your back by carrying it, drop it and it bursts open, who are you going to make a complaint to?

Generally 20kg - the handlers get a bit funny about really heavy ones - and with good reason - who needs 14 pairs of shoes for a two-week holiday?? Ooops, that would be me!

when i went to turkey a few weeks ago it was 24kg

I guess its a matter of how strong you are.

Nick
Up to 20kg on Charter flights
up to 23 kg on Commercial flights

I do both on a monthly basis

Don't exceed on charters in July and Aug as they probably won't take excess and you don't want to upack your case at the front of a cue. Do You Knickers to that.......

Normally 20kg max.

crl_cpr
One body and twelve tins of baked beans is about it! JUST KIDDING! It's 28 kg

comostreet
Normally 20kg and there are also size restrictions. This is for economy. Check with your airline, but most are 20kg per adult or child.

It depends on your airline, but I think it is free luggage up to 50 lbs, then you pay for overweight luggage after that.
