It's a very sensitive issue. The Turks has not been in good relations with many of its' neighboring countries for many decades or even centuries. I was recently in Greece and in Turkey. I understand the Greeks, Bulgarians and Armenians completely.

As we say in greek, if we want to be friends we have to keep a distance (makria kai agapimenoi) but turks are always coming closer and they fcuk everything up... Closer in Cyprus, closer in the Aegean and they also want to enter Europe and overrun Greece with poor turks and kurds. Just stay away please. We can be facebook friends or something, never real friends.

Well, Northern Cyprus is still illegally invaded by Turks and Turkish airspace still illegally crosses the Greek one. Despite Greek politics that say they want Turkey in the EU most Greeks dont see Turks as Europeans or part of their culture. On the positive note, Eurovision voting between the two countries has risen.

Greco-Turkish relations have historically been very poor - they have fought against each other in at least four major wars. There's still some turmoil over which country has rights to the Aegean Sea. But lately things have been improving, primarily based on Turkey's bid to get into the EU.
