What is your favorite Greek Island?

I have different memories and feelings towards so many - I can't choose a favourite as each one brings back such intense feelings.
As I lived on Kos - that has to be my favourite- but I really enjoyed visiting Nissyros -so strange! Had such a fun time on Paros/Zakynthos .... I adore Lefkada - it's next door and I'm about to open a second shop there. Santorini didn't do it for me don't know why!- I have many memories of Poros - we went every weekend when I lived in Athens - not pretty but great fun!
However the best scenery in the whole of Greece has to be Iprius (mainland) - no island can compare to the mountains/coastline of Ipirus.

These thumbs down are crazy! Yahoo should have a different system - one that does not allow passersby to thumb down ... just because they feel like it! See everyone's answers do they really need thumbs down for just answering!?

Crete.It's my home,i guess it will always have a special place in my heart as it was the place were i grew up and i was lucky enough to live in a big city(Heraklion is the 4th biggest city of Greece) and still have enough play-room for me and my friends to play football,basketball,ride bicycles etc.Also if you have to live on an island and therefore be far away from the mainland and be depended on the weather conditions(since almost all the transfer are being done by boats,for example fresh milk,newspapers,magazines etc) you better live on the biggest island of the land,that way you have a bit of autonomy.Also Crete(due to her size) has a lot of different sceneries,you have marvellous beaches on the south side,mountains like Psiloritis and Leuka Ori,gorges,the famous Lasithi plateau and more!Not to mention you are only a half hour flight away from Athens and one hour from Thessaloniki,also due to the heavy tourism in the summer you have a very big airport from which there are many flights every week to almost all destinations :)

My favorite island is Aegina. I have many happy memories from this island.

I first went there when i was baby (3 days old), after the maternity hospital, my parents took me in our cottage.

Every summer i spend some days there.

It's a very beautiful island, close to Athens.
With great history (the first capital of modern Greece), many sights to see, a very green island with many beaches, small villages and many many pistachios !

It's a good choice for quiet holidays but also has big nightlife in summer.

Crete(Kritti)...everything about Greece is found here...Knossos..Samarian Gorge..Caves of Zoniana..Imbros Gorge,Rethymno,Sitia,,Hercule's birth place,Herakalion and it's Harbour..the mystery of Atlantis..What caused the destruction of Crete...tidal wave? And they love Aussies because of the Second World War...."Ausralien..come into our house"...And I met my future wife there. Bonus! We were there on Independence Day and all the old soldiers come out wearing their fighting uniforms..like guerillas..Hard as nails and still kicking..Amazing!Tough looking men of age...

Its beautiful, wonderful beaches, beautiful mountains, its not over commercialized, clean sea, brilliant people, excellent food, great night life and wonderful weather - Thank God its where I live.
