Ahh another Greco-Turkish internet war lol...
Yesterday I was in Istanbul shopping at Cevahir Shopping Mall, a very big and modern place. Would you believe they were playing Greek music in some shops and nobody cared. Do you think you can do that in Athens?
It's true there are fanatics in every country, a lot in Turkey and maybe a bit more in Greece.
That concert that was cancelled a couple of days ago; if it was a Turkish singer who supported enemies of Greece, would the Greek officials allow him to sing in Athens? Dallaras is known for his sharp tongue criticising (if not insulting) Turkey. He supports PKK, which is a terrorist organization in Turkey. He sings in anti-invasion (!) gatherings. How do you expect Turkey to allow him to sing in Istanbul!
I don't want to comment about history books because in both countries (as in many others), "we" are the heroes, the brave ones, the good guys. "they" are the villains, the bad guys, the murderers, the rapists etc.
F16s fly over "our" air space!!! Same story on both sides. Who shall we believe?
The military is indeed influential in Turkey but to say that generals are the real rulers of the country would be exageration. If so, how come the religious party is in power?
Katerina thank you for your kind words. One thing though, about the islands. Do you know what happened to thousands of Turkish inhabitants of Crete, Midilli Rhodes etc.? I am sure Greek history books say nothing about them.
p.s. we have to get over these things, we have to look into the future and establish trust and understanding. If we keep doubting the other we will not get anywhere. |

Horrible...Imagine that me, Ipek, Alev, Esra, Baris, and Leonarda talk over MSN every day about how to invade each others' country, and then all together, along with Tolia, Pelin, Ataman, Moustafa, Enver, and Habisce, exchange poisonous e-mails...
Edit: Hehe..
Edit: Ipek, darling, if you don't let me invade your country, I'll send you no more songs with Gary Moore, nor the last songs of Nek (Istabile is my favorite)...
In addition I'll send you Spartan and Krikor in a parcel with pink ribbons... :D
P.S. Ok, Ipek, I'll invade next week, I have to get some tan first, to suit with my blue eyes, I want to be a charming conqueror... You think that Ferre or Armani would suit better as a uniform?
Kisses to Greek and Turkish friends from me too....

No way with Greeks- especially with Dellovere!!!! Oh God, ı can't even imagine doing businness with him, he is so grumpy- and abrupt; he said so himself!
And look , he wants to invade our country??? Over my dead body !!!
PS to DELLAROVERE : Look Mister, if you want a better relationship between Turkey and Greece, you better switch to Yahoo Messenger!!! The songs you are sending me takes forever to download from MSN ! Shame on you !
:D
EDIT : oh, ok!!... Angelo, Sultanım, take my share of the country but please send me the songs and please keep Krikor and Spartan away from me!! - Actually I think they may look good with pink ribbons :p
I think you are not after my county but the girls, so you are harmless :) Armani is good choice and don't forget to put on some Armani Black code after shave too. You will be irresistable and all the girls will surrender without resistance :)
OH MY GOD !!!! You made me a traitor with your Byzantine tricks :D |

I believe that as i have already said, a friendship between both countries can be obtained just in a private level, and not ina a national, since there are many things to be resolve d yet..And certainly, in an national level each one has his own positions..
But in a private level, i always go to Turkey every year(next month i ll be there too), i have friends, and they come also in Greece.I really feel very nice,so comfortable of the hospitality..
But to obtain what you say, it is not up to us but to the governments...And you saw lately that the decision to bge cancelled a concert hasnt been taken by the simple human beings who would enjoy it in Istanbul, but by the authorities...
Bosporus Baby nobody has prejudice of the greeks against you.You have just created some doubts to some users of the greek section concerning the topic of Macedonia, which is something delicate for us, and of course it concerns us, or those with whom we have differences on it...
So, we can live peacefully, and having strong friendships, my turkish friends havent dissapointed me,and i also didnt, hoping that the governments will do sufficient efforts to improve the relations between the nations, s we are trying to improve them in private level...
Mustafa, nothing happened to the turks of Rhodes, i inform you that they are the richest here, i have friends and students, they are completely incorporated in the society, and be sure they are between the richest fo the inhabitants...
As you can see from the answers, just in private level the friendship can be obtained... |

I must say cos of Greek education system schools etc. we Turks were teach to Greek children by common words like barbarians, or Turkey is being not a democracy but run by army etc...these people are so brain washed that they can not change their mind all that much about us Turks....its very complicated but they dont think the same as us we are different from each other in mentality....
I have Greek friends but I dont like to talk to them about two countries problems as from my experiences I know its just pointless.... |

first of all we (turkey) are not in a best place of earth, look at our neighbours,Iran( islamic republic trying to be a nuclear power),Iraq(hosting PKK,over 100 people murdered every day),Armenia(we don't need to talk about it),Syria(terrorist state)
second,we can not be partners because we are competitors.
third, they are the spoilt child of EU, they are unreliable, they never keep any international promises, they backed up APO whos considered as terrorist by the world, they still have dirty relations with PKK,other terrorist groups like Dev-Yol,Dev-Sol etc.are still wellcomed by Greeks.
They say Turkey invaded Cyprus, they never want to talk what EOKA was doing by that time and how many innocent people were murdered just because they were Turkish, just read the papers to learn what they are doing to the refugees.
Their economy is the poorest in the EU,only Istanbuls economy is larger than the whole Greece.
lol...thats what i think about them |

We have a lot in common, in deed. We can build a great relationship considering business (although I think that's already happening) and tourism.
Real friendship begins from plain people. It's in our hands to vote for these governments who will establish this friendship. That will never happen among threats. Collaboration will serve common benefits for Greece and Turkey
To Jay D Skinner: Get yourself educated. Aegean Greek islands have been inhabited by Greeks since 3000 BC, and they're still nowdays. No one touches them. Period. |

Why are you so eager about Greek and Turkish relations?
Thinks are very hectic and I can not see how they can be improved, since politicians, contrary to populations' desires, make things every now and then very aggressive for domestic reasons of policy.
On top, the aggressiveness shown by the prejudiced persons, me included, on this forum makes things even harder to get a common ground for the two countries and their peoples.
EU is only for the rich people of the respective countries, and their cronies, that will make them richer and the poor poorer. Which in turn will increase the aggressiveness and hate
Furthermore, I believe that " besa " is missing from both sides and suspicion of ill-intend will hang over that relation |

in case of tourism, maybe there should be a mediterrenean union; Türkiye, Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania....
my feelings about the relationship, you know trolls will never give up
yesterday i attended a folklore show, groups were from mediterrenean countries. there were greeks sitting behind me
they were shouting when the greek dancers started dancing. show was really good but what i hated is that they left in the middle of the show when Turkish group came to the stage. it was really a sad moment
but on the other hand, i have many greek friends in Y! and in real life
i do my best, i hope the situation will be better |

I wrote it before and I will write it again. We do not have a problem with the people but with your government. And as our governments best interest is to keep things as they are so is your governments best interest to try to change them. That's why you supported FYROM to be called Macedonia, that's why you are invading every day with F-16 or I don't know what else, that's why you always have the idea that we want something from you when instead you are the ones who are challenging our borders. You say that we have been misled by the clergy and believe in false history and I accept it as a possibility but why are you so certain that you haven't??? Why is it that I don"t really know what happened in my country 150 years ago but you do???? And how come your government is so much better when from your own writings that I read here your choices are either military party or religion influenced party??? |
|

I have no prejudice about Greeks. Only, I take into account that, statistically, more Greeks are bound to have a prejudice about ME, because, their version of school history allows for more prejudice than ours. Their government was trying to correct things a little bit, but was met with opposition from clergymen. I don't know the current situation.
Also, if I were free, I wouldn't have any objection to dating and even marrying a Greek guy, if he is Mr.Right, of course.
In tourism, we are rivals by the nature of the business, so we would be hardpressed to make any kind of union. Still, we could make cross-border trips a little bit easier, I guess. |

The only problems in my opinion are:
1. Turkey is not a really a democratic country
2. The military in Turkey runs almost everything, and they have an agenda of their own.
3. The standard Turkish external policy to create tensions with its neighbors and produce demands to relieve them.
Other than that... why not. We have so many things in common. |

first, about turism they dont play fair, they always try to draw a false image about Türks in world media
But in health ,disasters, commerse yes we should do something together and if they stop trying to threaten Türkiye we can also get closer and stop paying more money to the emperialist countries for the weapons.i smell good things in Türkiye but cant see it in the Greek side |

I do not believe they have any relationship, accept in Cyprus (sharing and island).
I flown and visited many Greek locations and Turkey included. I much prefer the Turks over the Greeks.
I also think the Turkish people should have been allowed to join the EU, and the only reason they aren't is do to Greece interference.
The Greek mentally if its an island in the Med it belongs to them, most of these so called Greek possessions have more Turks living there then Greeks and are closer to Turkey then Greece. |
