i'm greek and i'm very ashamed of what happened a couple of days ago at Mykonos island.. i can reassure you that these two bodyguards that hit the two poor guys represent a very tiny amount of greeks.. i feel horrible about it.. But i would like to "congratulate" the father of the boys for being so brave and calm and donate his son's organs... |

You won't expect this, but i think that some bad publicity for Mykonos is a good thing. Even a travel guidance or boycott. Because the reason Myconos is full of bars, clubs, bouncers and all these things is the huge tourism that focuses on such type of fun. Of course, touristic places have a reason for being touristic. Myconos is one of the most beautiful places I've seen, and has great beaches. But I think what is best for the island is that the tourism be reduced, because being packed with this sort of "clubbing " tourism alters the calm image of the island and repels culural tourism. |

Like I said before, that only shows their true nature and the way they treat foreigners. |

Me, as Greek intellectual, feel ashamed by these behaviors of mine compatriots.
But, such things are happening everywhere. |

You have already asked this question, dear troll. I really think you should feel ASHAMED about using this young man's death as a propaganda tool... But I bet you feel no sorrow about him, his death probably makes you happy because it gives you the chance to post another idiotic question here.
"On Behalf of Doujons friends and family, i would like to thank each and everyone of you from all over the world, espically the overwhellming support from the people of Greece in this very difficult time". - Zeake Zammit, Doujon's brother.
Greeks stunned by the bashing yesterday begged forgiveness and spoke of shame that it happened in their country.
"Oliver Zammit told Greeks they had a "lovely culture and a great country" and the attack on his 20-year-old son was "bad luck", sparking an outpouring of grief.
"I would like you to know that this is going to tie myself and my family ... to Greece," Oliver told journalists as he fought back tears".
And to answer your question: I was left speechless when I heard about this murder and I really hope the murderers are punished. Other than this, the words of his father and brother I posted above should be enough of an answer for you.

Please allow me to correct you. They were not brothers but cousins.Unfortunately, these things happen all over the world, Australia included I guess. Greece is by far the safest holiday destination in the world as incidents like that occur once every 50 years.Besides, Doujon's father , who's Australian, has given the answer....in public ! He's a wonderful man and has honoured the Australian people. Please don't spoil what this wonderful father has done for his son and for you as a nation. If I were Australian, I'd be proud of Doujon's father ! But I'm an insignificant Greek ..yet this Australian man has put tears in my eyes. If only you could realise how much he has honoured your country ! |

i think this article is not focusing on one story but assimulating two storys of diffrent nature,,has nothign to do with each other..and its just public bashing greeks in general. for any one who hates greeks like present company.secondly...private entrepises like that club on mykonos is not governed by the greek tourisim board..they employe thier own bouncers..and futhurmore..no one ask for apassport not even the police unless a murder or grand theft or drugs have been implicated and if its done its done by the legal authorities..all these storys in the sydney moring hearlad are hear say.especialy the first one..which i may add happedn in 2007..which has nothign to do with this incident of the late mr zammit.. we as greeks are all shocked and sadden by this incident of mr zammit..iam sure the right investigations will take place and prosecutions will follow..if there is proof. but you could consider this too... as much as the greek tourisim and the local people want you to feel welcomed at mykonos which so many people have over the last 50 years in greek tourisim .we can not keep an eye on all gangs of other ethnicity other than greeks..which have occured in cupous amounts as they accustom in thier own country .and are now trying to infiltrate greek society and prosper in thier under handed mafia type of extortion..i assure you when the greek authorites get wind of these people they send them back to thier own countrys never to enter greece again.after they have served the time allocated by greek justice.we greeks are a warm and hospitable people to all who visit or entre greece as tourist or residents..we how ever will not tolerate louts who drink and cause civil disorder or cause concern to the peace of greek hospitality.and we will diffentley not tolerate the criminal mafia extortionits from other countries who try to inflitrate greek tourisim or hospitality.. .... dont tabloit bash greeks....it is a pathetic...excuse for your own hate towards greeks.. ... |

I think the criminals have unfortunately mistaken these poor australian guys for you...That's why they attacked him so bad.
Oh by the way, are you taking some holidays this summer, Allan ?
I suggest you to go to Mykonos, and go to a nightclub at 2 am, alone, and don't forget to say to the guy at the door " Hi, I am Allan, the troll who always harass Greece section"
Good luck ! |

I feel devastated about this tragic incident but like most Greeks I believe in the Greek justice and I'm sure that the culprits will be severely punished. They have already been arrested. As a Greek, I also feel proud because tragic events like these happen very rarely in my country. Unlike other touristy places such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hawai or Florida (Miami). And this is exactly the reason why there has been so much noise about it, hence your question. Because incidents like these happen in Greece once in a blue moon!. Greece remains as always one of the safest holiday destinations. This can be confirmed by the millions of tourists who visit my country every year. But this is not the issue, to my mind. Right now, I feel that we should all give our sincere condolences to Doujon's family for their loss. May Doujon rest in peace. |

In my opinion it is very dangerous to go in Greece.
They prove, once again that they are not civilized people, but just a tribe from Sub-Sahara. |

yeah "just another macedonian", tourists should better go to Skopje right?
and now start giving me the whole "alexander's descendants" thing, come on.
get a life.
shame on the bouncers, gratz to the father and family of poor Doujon.
greeks are friendly and have great tradition concerning tourism. the fact that a PRIVATE EMPLOYEE got crazy and beat the poor kid to his death means nothing. it has nothing to do with the hospitality industry.
all tourists that have visited greece can confirm what i stated.
thank you |
