While Polish currency is still zloty (and according to plans it will be until at least 2012) , the old versions of it are no longer in use and as such cannot be exchanged neither abroad nor in Polish banks. After the re-denomination in 1994 you could for some time use both currencies and exchange the old zloty for new in banks but after the 'introduction period' was over the old zloty became worth exactly as much as the paper it was printed on.
But I know that some people successfully sell old zloty on internet auctions - no idea if it's nostalgia or collecting passion but there are people out there still willing to buy those. So you still have a slight chance of getting something for the zlotys you have even if I wouldn't count on much
Hope it helped any. |

The "old" zloty (PLZ) is 1/10,000 the value of the "new" zloty (PLN), which means that unless you have piles of the "old" currency, do not bother. Yes, the tentative date for introducing the euro is 2012, but it is not certain yet. |

The Zloty. And those old coins you have would be a good thing to save as they could become good collectors items as the years go by and actually be worth something then, since they are pretty much worthless now. |

Poland will be using the zloty until about 2012. By then, it will start using the Euro. Right now, EU countries don't think Poland's economy is good and stable enough yet.
I am not too sure about selling such old money but I have to say that I very much doubt you'd be able to exchange it. Gosh, if it's from WWII maybe you'd have more luck keeping it and selling it when it has more historical value. :) |
