Don't ask him out. Let him come to you and ask. That way you know if he is really interested as opposed to he's just saying yes because you'll pay for the movie or whatever. Let him do the work, and then you'll know if he is worth having. Just enjoy the attention for now.

Just ask him out PRIVATELY. Catch him when he's alone. Im a guy and i dont really make fun of a girl that asks me out. But dont ask him in private cuz I personally would be a jerk and make a joke. He may be different but privacy is key.
