Show it to them.

Corruption among police is rife especially in Moscow. If you don't speak Russian, they may try and bribe you, usually around £50. If you are 100% sure your passport/visa is in order (make really sure you are clear on the visa registration rules, ask them for their ID number and say you are going to ring your embassy in Moscow. That stops them.

I would try running away screaming: "I hate Russians and I am a Chechen terrorist."

Let me know if that helps.

I work in militia there...and you should show me your passport and tickets huh

simon_sainteclaire
Give it to them....or they will give it to you!

What a dumbass question

MMscw
if there is no problem with you passport show it
if there's a problem... i think if you live in Moscow you know the best way to solve this kind of problems here ;)

?
show it, what's the problem?

Little Witchy Girl
they do speak English, so you won't have trouble conversing with Russian militiamen. So, do not be afraid and just show them your passport. You do have to have a registration there otherwise you'd be fined.

rosbif
Show them. Quickly.

I was in Russia and was asked for mine at the airport. I showed it to them. I showed it to them, he thanked me and that was it. They did not single me out. They wee asking a lot of people(including Russians) for their identification. I was in Russia for almost two weeks and met another American that has been over there for 6 months. Neither one of us had any problems. You just have to obey the laws like you do anywhere else. Have your passport, Russian visa, and have your visa registered. Then you will have no problems.

first of all, try to look and behave like Russians. Foreigners are easily seen in the street - they have funny and absent-minded faces in comparison to Russians.
if you're asked to show your passport - show it, but better without handling it in. don't be aggressive in any case. and don't offer money first: if they see you're ready to pay, they'll require more.
