A top contributor says that "Israel, Palestine and Greece are countries. Macedonia is just a Greek providence."
Please find me only one map with this 3 countries. On contrary I can show millions of maps of these tree countries MACEDONIA, Greece and Israel. Only Palestine is a region! That are the maps only from 1912 till today. The earlier maps shows us the real Macedonia and much smaller Greece.

1.Greece slapped a trade embargo on Macedonia because of the refusal of the Macedonian President Gligorov to rename the country, nation, and language, and change the constitution. The embargo had devastating impact on Macedonia's economy. Macedonia was cut-off from the port of Salonika and became landlocked because of the UN embargo on Yugoslavia to the north, and the Greek embargo to the south. Greece said it will remove the embargo only if Macedonia satisfies her demands. This blackmail was not acceptable to the Republic of Macedonia which considered the embargo illegal. At the same time, Greece withdrew from the Greek - Macedonian talks, monitored by the UN as a mediator, and blocked any acceptance of Macedonia in the international institutions by using its power to veto new members.
2.There is no Greek companies of telecommunications in Macedonia. there was only one Cosmofon (OTE) but before 2 months they sold this company to T-mobile.
3. I gree with you that "The situation in Palestine is a humane tragedy", but you shoould also agree that in Greece sitiations with Macedonian minorities is also a human tragedy. Not to mention here the genocide over the Macedonians in Aegean Macedonia, stealing their properties, etc.

1)it used a name EXACT THE SAME with the region with Greece.

Greece has not embargoed FYROM. Quite the opposite, Greek companies of telecommunications and infrastructure work in FYROM.
In addition, you can't even think of comparing what ISrael is doing to Palestinians with Greece! The situation in Palestine is a humane tragedy, can't you respect that already? How can you use this tragedy as a pretext to find something to say against Greece? Really, this goes beyond your obsession, it is insensitive.

The point is that Israel is bombing civilians and kids in palestine, how can this be compared to a veto in NATO or negociations on name isues-all through diplomacy and within teh rights of each country in international organisations? Someone must be obsessed or a provocator to make such a connection! It looks like Fyromians want so desperately to be "victimised", that they compare themselves to Palestinians for God's sake!!! I think they secretely pray that Greece bombs them to become "martyrs"!!! Get a grip! This will not happen, Greece plays her cards in the international diplomacy, and so does Fyrom. Remember that Greece has made a step backwards, accepting a name including teh term MAcedonia, and you, instead of reaching an agreement, made a step forward and refused names that were YOUR proposal at Gligorov's time, since you mentioned that period.

FYROM is just a temporary name until a solution is found. it is the only legally recognised by the UN.
The final name of FYROM is going to be "Macedonia" with a geographical definition like "North", "Upper" or "New".
And I agree with this because this is the only fair solution because we can't deprive them of their right to be called macedonians since they live permanently in Macedonia today.But they have to be distinguished from the other Greek Macedonians or the Bulgarian Macedonians.

The only analogy I see is the following:
Israel is the occupying force in the area where Palestine was always.
FYROM or Vardarska is occupying around 10% of the ground where Ancient MAKEDONIA was. The other 90% is a state in Greece and that is the normal situation because Ancient Makedonia was a Greek city-state.

Similarity? Sorry, I see no similarities. I can tell you the main difference though: The Palestinians are very proud of their identity, they do not try to steal and put on a fake "Israeli" identity... On the other hand, our slavic neighbours have been brainwashed into believing that they're direct descendants of the... ancient Macedonians and that Alexander and Aristotle spoke an ancient slavic dialect... Some guy (I don't remember who it was) even wrote recently here in YA about the "ancient macedonian (meaning slavic) language on Rosetta Stone"...

Now for the truth:

Hammas is a terrorist organization and the Israeli embargo aims at stopping weapons getting to Hammas. I feel that Israeli gov't has made mistakes in the past, but this is NO excuse for Palestinian zealots (not all Palestinians) to use missiles against Israelis and hiding these weapons on roofs of Palestinian schools and hospitals.

Macedonia is not on an embargo by Greece. Greece denies entry of Macedonia to NATO and European Union. Macedonia needs to sign several bi-lateral treaties and be de facto a NATO member.

Greece exercises embargo to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, TRNC, which has not however accessed fully the status of a sovereign state, as Macedonia has.

I expect Greeks to disagree with me but they do nothing to express their disagreement to nearly 150 countries of the Globe who recognized Macedonia with that name. Farnic is the bad voice, Canada and USA are just OK.
