Check out Rome's historical sites - the Colosseum, the Forum and the Pantheon. At the Trevi Fountain, visitors guarantee their return to Rome by throwing a coin into the waters. Enter the Vatican City, an independent sovereign state best known for the magnificent St Peter's Basilica. Among the principal features of the Vatican Palace (the Pope's residence) are the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museum.
Explore Venice (Venezia), a work of art in itself. St Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace, overlooking St Mark's Square, have gained fame through Canaletto paintings. The Galleria dell'Accademia
In Milan (Milano), appreciate Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, The Last Supper, which may be viewed at the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie La Scala remains the undisputed world capital of opera.
In Genoa (Genova), the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, go and see the Galleria di Palazzo Bianco. It has an exceptional collection of paintings by Genoese artists.
see Verona, the setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's House)
Visit Florence (Firenze) and see Brunelleschi's revolutionary design for the Duomo (cathedral) . Cross the medieval Ponte Vecchio bridge, see the art collections of the Uffizi Gallery and Michelangelo's famous statue of David at the Galleria dell'Accademia.
See the place where pizza was invented, Naples. The impressive Museo Archeologico Nazionale houses an excellent collection of Greco-Roman artefacts, including mosaics from Pompeii.
Sail to Sicily to see the remains of successive invading cultures. The most important ancient Greek sites include the temples of the Valle dei Templi at AgrigÊnto, said to be better preserved than any in Greece itself. The catacombs at the Capuchin Monastery contain thousands of mummified bodies. |

I would advocate Milan, Rome and Venice, 3 beautiful cities for many reasons. You will find a free city guide for each along with a streetmap (featuring attractions, sights and shops) at:

Well, are you going to Rome, Venice, Sicily? But I'm just going to take it that you are going all around. Ok when you are Rome you are going to have to see the colosseum duh! But you also want to visit the Trevi Fountain in Rome. But really you can just get one of the scooters and go all over the city. When you are in Venice, you have to go to some of the restaurants. They are all amazing! But you will have to get a gondola and go down the waterways and look at all the buildings and get off when you see something interesting or pretty. For Sicily I would just stay look at the mountains, hike up the mountains. |

Go to Lake Como if you are getting off at Milan airport. Is is beautiful! Shopping is wonderful and you HAVE to try the pizza and gelati, they are both REALLY YUM! Oh if your going to go to a region which has a mountain or high up roads, which Lake Como has, be careful driving. They all have mini cars and we were driving round with some fat *** car and I swore we were going to die......
Anyway have fun. |
