Amsterdam is my favorite place and i get there as often as possible. There is so much to do, beyond the Coffeeshops (for smoking weed) and the red light District for obvious activities.

There are many small and large museums that you can spend hours in, my favorite is the Maritime Museum. There are also a lot of great restaurants, cafes and bars.

I love to just walk around and look at the architecture. The buildings are so unique and the way they sag and tilt is so cool. I also recommend getting a tram pass, so if you walk too far you can easily just grab a tram or bus back to Centraal Station.

The area around the Leidsplein is my favorite for food and beverage. Outstanding "people watching" as well.

go, enjoy, savour it all.

Hang out down at the Leidseplien. Great bars and restaurants.
Favourite steak restaurant;
Bistro La Forge de Alberto, Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 26, 1017 RC, Amsterdam. just off the corner of the square.
amazing food in lovely surroundings and excellent service. try it, you'll love it.

Amsterdam has lots to do beyond the "obvious", you can visit the Vincent Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House and more. For a longer list click the "tourism" tab at http://www.gostreetmaps.com/amsterdam.html

In November there are 2 film festivals in Amsterdam.

- Shadow festival (End of November)
- International Documentary Filmfestival of Amsterdam (20 - 30 November)

And of course you can attend the typical Dutch tradition the Arrival of Saint Nicholas. With is fun, definitely for a foreigner.

Check out The High Times 21st. Cannabis Cup 2008 between 23rd and 27th.November 08.

And I will hasten to add (GAZ) that many of those 'ladies waving from the windows' are personal friends of mine and very nice human beings indeed. I have often gracefully dined and danced with a few who's private business is within that occupation (outside of hours of course) and am honoured to have done so. Excellent elegant intelligent and dignified company.

TIP :
( keep away from The Red Light on Fri & Sat eves due to the temporary airborne disease i.e. influx of sad obnoxious immature drunken slobbering brits ! )

hebben een prettig verblijf !!!

See Van Gogh's sunflowers, visit the Anne Frank 'Huis', and smoke a doobie in the bulldog cafe!

For a refreshingly different view of Amsterdam, try a canal boat tour.

The canals provide a leisurely pace from which to observe Amsterdam's unique architecture and street life.
You can find a convenient departure either in the daytime or evening hours from many locations throughout the city.

Koninklijk Paleis, Royal Palace. Originally built as the City Hall, Louis Napoleon turned it into the Royal Palace during his short-lived reign over the Netherlands.
Today it is only rarely used by the Dutch royal family for ceremonial occasions.
It was last used during the wedding of Prince Willem and Maxima. The sculptures and artwork inside are worth seeing.

The Vondelpark. The Vondelpark is a very popular place on warm, sunny days with the Dutch and tourists alike.
The park extends over several hundred acres with bike paths, walking paths, an open-air concert venue, three large outdoor cafes and the Film Museum.

Cannabis College.Curious about cannabis?
Want to learn more about hemp products?
Need some marijuana growing tips?
The friendly staff at the Cannabis College are ready to answer all your cannabis questions.

Where To Shop:
Traditionally, shops and markets are closed all day Sunday and Monday mornings.
Normal shopping hours are 09:00 or 10:00 to 18:00 (17:00 on Saturday) although some are now beginning to stay open later in the evenings and about half of the shops on the main shopping streets are even open on Sundays.
There is late-night shopping on Thursdays until 21:00, when most shops on the main streets are open.

Metz & Co. Leidsestraat 34-6. Metz & Co is a good place to shop for special gifts: designer furniture, glass and Liberty-style fabrics and scarves are all sold here.

De Bijenkorf. De Bijenkorf Dam 1. De Bijenkorf is to Amsterdam what Harrods is to London and Bloomingdale's is to New York.
There's a good range of clothing - both designer and own-label - kidswear, jewellery, cosmetics, shoes, accessories and a wonderful household goods department.
