What type of clothes should I take with me when I go to Krakow, Poland?

I am going to Krakow, Poland in January and need to know what sort o clothes to take. Will I need proper thermals and furry jackets? Will I be able to just wear jeans and a jacket or will it be too cold?
Also, what about going out at night? Will it be too icy to wear heels and a dress out? What do 'local people' wear?
Many thanks!

Check in internet about weather (later not now)
In January can or don't have to be snow. Of course take jeans and sweater. You need to take jacket of course :) Forget about shorts , sandals:P
In january in Poland is warmer than in England. But don't worry! :)

About going out...hm... it's depends on people what they like to wear . How about jeans and sexy top??? but if you like dress go on !!!:)

Ps Enjoy Poland

Im going to Poznan Poland to visit my boyfriend and his family and I discussed this. Poland unlike America are more formal. So wear tight fitted jeans with heels and a nice jacket. Polaks always look put together no matter where they go. So that means no sweat pants and running shoes, non of that exists there. A furry jacket is good, im also bringing one and gloves hat and scarves is also essential as long as it matches and not bright colours like pink or green...simple deep colours.
For at night - a dress wont be needed but wearing fitted jeans and heels sounds good. Yes itmight be icy but u wont be the only person and they do take care of the streets there so ur not walking on a skating rink everywhere dont worry. a fancy top along with that is fine too.

Have Fun!! :)

These days weather forecasts are inaccurate for the day after tomorrow, and you want one for January? OK, be prepared for any temperature between +10 deg. and -20 deg. Centigrade. It may be pleasantly cool, but it may be windy and cold as well.
As for going out, check the dress code of the particular place - it would be awkward to be the only person in heels and long dress. And even if the formal dress is OK, take it with you and change at the place rather than wander around in it.

I suggest a thick jacket, tights under your jeans, and would never choose high heeled shoes if I had to walk somewhere on foot.
For me it's definitely too cold in winter nights for a dress, even with thick tights (I wear these only if I'm going by car).
Local people wear really warm clothes with scarfs, gloves, furry caps, snow boots, etc.
For a night out they usually wear jeans (a skirt, or a dress while having a mean of transport other than public) and some kind of a nice top. But they take a sweater to put on under the jacket if needed, and not to freeze while being outside.
It may be even -15' Celsius. But you have to check the weather forecast before leaving, because it may also be warmer, like +5' Celsius.

Well it's like you were in any other country with the winter season!
However they have mild winters so yeah you could go out in jeans and a jacket!
You will definitely need a coat of jacket and nights are cooler usually!
I definitely do not rec recommend going in a dress outdoors but heels are fine locals were them a lot.
A regular local would wear basically what people would wear in any country with the winter season
TIP:bring skates (if you have any)
TIP:chew gum on the plane so your ears don't pop!or listen to music!

Well hello there I am from Krakow area in Poland. First of all don't wear anything expensive because you have a big risk to get mugged unless if it's summer. I really love Krakow and it's my home. Oh yeah I almost forgot...DRINK HOT TEA TO KEEP YOURSELF WARM.

I would think you'll need very warm clothes & thermals. It's a good idea to "Google" information on Poland and you'll find out what the temperature in January is likely to be. Very cold I'd imagine.
