People in Greece speak Greek, but I have a feeling that's not what you expect to hear. I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

(This is going to get me into trouble)

The documented languages spoken by Greeks are (in alphabetical order):

a. Albanian dialects, spoken by approx. 160,000 users. This includes Arvanitika, and the Tosk dialect spoken in Epirus.

b. Bulgarian dialects: Pomak (a.k.a. Pomakci or Pomakika) is spoken by around 30,000 users mostly in the northeast.

c. Modern or Demotic Greek, spoken by approximately 11,000,000 users throughout the country.

d. Greek Sign Language, used by around 45,000 people.

e. Pontic Greek, a Greek dialect used by approximately users mostly concentrated in the Greek region of Macedonia

f. Romani, especially the Greek Romani and Arlija dialects, used by a little over 40,000 users in Greece. This number also includes the 1,000 speakers of Lovari (a.k.a. Romanés or Tsingani)

g. Romanian. This includes Romance (Vlach), Melengo, and Hellenoromanica or Romika, spoken by a total of approximately 200,000 users.

h. Slavic. The controversial Macedionian variety is also used by an indeterminate number of users in the Northwest of the Greek region of Macedonia.

i. Tsakonian, a Doric Greek dialect spoken by around 1,000 users in southern Peloponesse.

j. Turkish, spoken by around 300,000 users mostly conentrated in Thrace.

This calculation only includes Greek citizens (i.e. not immigrants) and does not make any claim as to the ethnicity of the users. In addition, languages with Foreign Language status were not considered, because it would be difficult to quanify the users' level of proficiency.

In principle, languages are considered distinct if they are mutually incomprehensible. For instance, while Tsakonian or Pontic belong to the Greek family of languages, they are considered distinct from Demotic Greek because users of the latter language cannot generally follow a narrative in the former ones.

However, I have conflated some of the smaller languages in single categories. For example, it seemed silly to make Romika (30 users) a distinct category. Such groupings were made based on linguistic affinity - again nothing more is implied.

How natural?

The "language of love" should be the most natural, if you know what I mean. :D

And what with the angry expression?

Modern Greek is the most common language naturally spoken in Greece. Accents however differ in certain divisions of the country and islands

Greek! It's is an original language like Latin. Greek is not based on a certain language-it's original. English, French, Italian etc. are all based mostly on Latin. GREEK IS ORIGINAL!

Hi, they speak Greek but don't confuse it with the Ancient Greek taught in American and European universities.
