There is a lot to see in Madeira, the mountains and waterfalls are stunning, the toboggan run is unique. You can walk the levadas, take a boat trip to Porto Santo.Hire a car you will see it all. The harbour in Funchal is where all the cruises dock, you can sit there in one of the bars watching all the big liners coming in. The flower and fruit markets are something else, there are fruits and flowers practically unknown anywhere else, its the very mild climate all year and the rainfall that makes it so lush. Have a wonderful holiday, I'm sure you will! |

Madeira is such a beautiful place, actually a small island, but with much to see, the capital Funchal and it“s exciting market place, the wonderful flowers you don“t see in many places, the wonderful high mountains ( you almost get dizzy driving there, take a tourist bus, that“s the safest way, my husband almost fated, when he saw the narrow roads.) There is so much to see, so the list would be too long, but as Madeira is not so big, so I“m sure you will see anything you want to see. You will se a lot in Madeira (ask the hotel or the tourist guide if you have any special wishes). I wish you a very pleasant holiday! Madeira is absolutely worth a visit. One of my favourites. |

It's such a petty that Madeira has this reputation. I went there a couple of years ago, against everyones advice, it was absolutely stunning. The mountains are a must see, I still get goose pimples thinking about them. You can walk the Lavardos, these are water ways in the mountains, you have to see to believe. We went up to the mountains on a trip, you go above the clouds. When we got the there was a Peruvian band playing pan pipes, it was so moving. The country puts you in mind of Peru, only a lot closer. They have spent millions rebuilding the island. If you have been in the last five years or so then you wouldn't recognise the place now, everything is modern. Which is a bit of a shame when you think that they pulled down some wonderful old buildings. |

Wow... snap! I am also going to Madeira later in this month! Hope u will enjoy your trip. I suggest you take a tour bus, around Madeira. It is a very small Island with great views, walks, tobbogan rides, beaches, ect.(and the CR7- Cristiano Ronaldo shop!) ... When you get there you will prob be able to ask your hotel for sites to see- Enjoy... :) |

Ignore the people who say Madeira's only for old people- its a beautiful place and there are lots of things to do. If you walk along the levadas you'll get incredible views out to sea and over the lakes and mountains. As someone already mentioned the toboggans would be a laugh. Madeira is one of the best places to go dolphin and whale watching- there'll be lots about at this time of the year. Or you could go diving or big game fishing- the guides will release the fish back into the sea alive. If you're feeling brave you could try a guided canyoning trip which is basically a combination of abseiling, scrambling, jumping and swimming down waterfalls and rivers.
Whatever you do have a great holiday |
