It really depends on what you enjoy. Europe is the continent of culture and beauty.

What time of year will you visit?
Everyone virtually loves Italy. Florence is marvellous, so is Rome.

Southern France is marvellous, but very expensive in the beach spots, but lovely, relaxing.

Switzerland is absolutely beautiful, Lake Geneva and environs is inspiring, the Alps, of course.

My favorite places to visit are the islands of Greece. And it's not for everyone.

Good time to avoid the huge crowds is mid September through October, or late May to mid June.

Everywhere in Europe is interesting, you really have to know what you want out of your trip first, then study the countries, cities, cultures and make a decision. Then you must decide are you going with a tour where everything is planned or independly, which I prefer.

Another consideration is a cruise through the Mediterranean, or a cruise down the Rhine through Germany or a cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Russia.

Is there a place you would NOT visit in Europe? I think there is not a best place. All the cities IВґve visited are just great!!

Venice and Prague

Florence, Italy (great food, historic buildings, museums, art, culture, and did I mention, great food?! best hazelnut gelato on earth...)

Prague, Czech Republic (everything's so cheap, and it's beautiful there!)

I agree with basketman. Europe is so diverse. Every city has a different vibe and what one person loves, another person might not. I love eastern europe inparticular, but a lot of people wouldn't think of visiting belarus, in the same way as i wouldn't go to the greek islands more than once.
Go and see them all.

There are so many places that are great to visit in Europe. Spain, for the bullfights; Italy for the fountains; Switzerland for the landscape; England for the queens jewels..ok the historical sites too; France for the Louvre Museum just to name a few. Wherever you may visit it will be a memory to last you a lifetime! Have fun!
