Much better value for money than the Eurozone if you are a Brit. Amazing sun if you like it hot, hot, hot. Cool beaches, but lots of historic stuff to see if you're not a beach fan. Main resorts are really lively at night.

There is no racism like in Western countries, you get really good friends even if you're an ex-pat, people invite each other very often or go out together in bigger groups than only two, a lost tourist never happens as everybody helps you for friendliness, a level of hospitality you can find only in very, very, very ancient and experienced societies. Topless women in wonderful beaches instead of 99% muslims in the country (even US doesn't have toplesses I heard), very good and fair football players, practical intelligence in daily life, very hard workers. A Japanese friend had told me after a visit to Turkey: "We Japanese are very, very polite, but it's politeness. Turks are REALLY friendly, and they REALLY smile when they smile, it's not done artificially to be polite." You find most amazing ancient civilizations in one single country (not just Greek, not just Roman, but also Turkish, Hittite, Urartu, Ottoman, Selcuklu, Phrygian, and many others). Most wonderful cuisine of the world. Kebabs are just a tiny part of it, as one of myriad ways to grill meat.
