For fun: Drive
To save time: Fly
For adventure: Train |

The cheapest and quickest will be by plane. Try Easy Jet, Air Berlin, German Wings, or Ryan Air. All will have flights from various airports around London to many destinations in Germany. Depending on your flexibility in day you want to go and where you want to land in germany I bet you can find a flight for $20US.
I am doing Dublin to Paris for $25 later this month. |

I'd definitely fly - that's if you're looking for the option with the least hassle. And personally, I'd go with Lufthansa - they're one of the best European companies I've ever flown with. (I avoid BA like the plague - the service is lousy!) |

I am afraid I cannot tolerate ferries, or coaches as they are cramped, noisey serve horrendous refreshments and are full of the sort of people one would not normally meet in everyday life so for me it has to be plane, preferably B.A. or Lufthansa, as I cannot tolerate charter or budget airlines for the same reasons as coaches or ferries, from Heathrow Airport. |

You can take a direct flight there is no doubt... but why not take the train under the english channel... and then a flight from paris... Why not visit so other locations on the way or just take the train... So that way you can see the country side and mountains and all the senic beauty.... But it will take you longer to get there than the plane ride... Also, money comes into play... if you have no budget, go with the best way to see lots of things, the train! |

Fly
You can get some great flight deals at the moment
Stanstead to Frankfurt seems the cheapest but there are loads of cheap flight options.
Check out your cheapest flight option on SkyScanner

Hope this helps |
