Only you and your husband know how precious your relationship is, as long as you two are happy that is the man thing.......

Its like everything in this world it only takes a few toe rags to tar everyone else.....

make your marriage last and last x

I have been married to my Turkish husband for 4 years, and live in Turkey. We lived together for 3 years before we married. I now have dual nationality, which I am very proud of.

My husband has never wanted a visa and has always earnt a living (supporting me for 3 years before I got my citizenship). He has never wanted to leave his country, something that I am very happy about, as I fell in love with the country and its culture before I met him.

Our life is normal, I have not had to convert to Islam (although I observe festivals etc., (by choice!)), and I have a very demanding job which involves anti-social hours and very long days.

There are good and bad in every race/culture, and I really hate people who generalise - I have encountered 'stinky' Brits, and in the past have worked for some awful British bosses!

Trust me, not every relationship is based on a holiday romance or the promise of a feature in 'Take A Break'! Some of us married for love and contentment, and have both!!

i know someone who,s married to a Turkish man they live in fethiye(not sure if i spelt that correctly?)and as far as i know are happy together.they have hiccups in the relationship because thats marriage not because he,s turkish .ive always found them to be lovely yes ive met some idiots who think they gods gift but ive also met a lot of scottish men the same.x

Hanoi_babe
Why do you ask this question when you love him so much?
So if everybody in this forum tells you that turkish men are the worst one, you will break up with him?
If you really love him, follow your heart and f.....the opinion of others. It's you life!

garry_sangster
i live in turkey and i can tell you there are a few who are just after the visa and can be very sexist but most are fine

I know Turkish men very well. Being working in Turkey since more then 2 years I can tell you that if Turkish man is not a deep believer he is very good friend and husband. Generally they are good. People in Istanbul are brilliant. So, if you feel yourself happy with your Turkish man - keep him. I am christian, and only one concern in regard with Turkish men is the fact that majority of Turkish men try to convert women into Islam, what is not acceptable for me, personally. Otherwise, especially if they are not to strong believers, as sad before, they are very good. So my answer could sound a little be strange, but it is a very honest answer.

You would have been better to have named your thread..."what's your opinion of men "I would have thought, as there's there good and bad in all races/ creeds as no doubt some other replies will inform you of. If he's a nice fellow, that's more than likely to do with his good upbringing then due to being Turkish.

Generalization is nonsense I think. They're not same. Depends on the person. Many Brits say they're only after a visa but it's nothing but pure generalization. I know there are many people who want to use foreign women but there are also many nice people who would never want such a thing. We should not generalize nations that's my two cents.

Well, I really don't understand the people who are going on about visa. It does not matter if he is Turkish, Italian, British etc. The most important thing is how you feel with him/her. My boyfriend is British and we live in Istanbul. We both love to live here.

Visa..... Hey come on guys, we all know that the only thing you need for visa is the documents required by the embassy. Do you think that it works like ''Oh, great you are married with a European, here is your visa''.

my boss is a turk

There is too much of a cultural difference between Brits and Turks. It's not just religion, it's social attitudes etc. I suspect you have had to make many, many compromises. When the love dies, it will not be so nice.

My friend was with a Turkish man, and he couldn't handle her westernisation. After he had all her money, he didn't want to know her. Thankfully, she had signed an agreement when they went into business together, so his family made him give her back his share, as it was an honour thing.
I haven't had good experiences of them - so I am biased
