Only once will I use logic to make my case but if they don't want to listen, fine by me. It doesn't matter to me whether they bought it or not. I respect their decision apart from the fact that it's my life and their own's anyway.

Life is too short to waste in an argument. Especially with people who deliberately provoke you because they have nothing else better to do. Like the trolls here.

If my idea is challenged, I'll have to rethink about it. And if necessary, read about it. I'll find the reason and point of the challenge. If my reasoning is weak and that the other side has a point, I rethink my position. If the other side's reasoning is flawed, I reassert my case.

See, only after these steps, will I go to your 3,4,5 and 6th steps. They are all one step, actually.

1.Let the other person think they've won ? I'd rather die! lol
2.Answer the challenge quickly? Yea but not quickly enough to make me look like an idiot. I don't speak up before pondering thoroughly on the issue.
3.Say little, but enough to get ur point across ? Nah, saying little is not for me.
4.Discuss it with them, but u don't worry about coming to an agreement ? Yes this one is the one!
5.Use logic to make ur case ? Not necessarily, if my adversary is a smart guy yes I'd use it, if not I wouldn't.
6.Challenge right back? Sometimes.

So my firm choice is 4!

Number 4! This is crazy, but sometimes I don't even let the other person know what I believe. I sometimes can take several different points of view in the same argument, or take a point of view that I don't believe, but know that I can argue, just for the fun of it. The benefit of that is that I'm not emotionally involved, but I still got a lot of good out of the discussion. And sometimes, when I know the person is just being a total jerk, I take whatever argument I know is going to bury their attempts at "logic" just for the fun of it.

I love discussion but hate argument and there's a very fine line between them.

I would listen to learn about their perspective, and respect that our opinions may clash due to different interests and backgrounds. As long as s/he shows me the same respect, I would have no problem discussing any topic with this person of different mind frame. Getting a point across usually doesn't work between people of different perspectives and opinions. Since one sees it black the other white. Yet, they can at least understand each other and where each of them comes from.
