I've always found you get a better exchange rate in Turkey so only get a small amount changed before I travel then get the rest changed over there as and when I need to.

nurseawful
Wait until you get to Turkey the exchange rate is far better. I you are Scottish or Irish remember to take English notes as they only accept them.

mandy
the rates at thomas cook and first choice are good just now

i agree that marks n sparks and post office are about the best but ive always found it best to change stirling over there as you get a better rate.

Clint Biggles
I frequently travel to Turkey and have found that the best rate is obtained by sticking my "Nationwide Building Society" card into an ATM (Nationwide don't charge for cash withdrawals abroad). This way you get the current Bank Exchange Rate.

Most of the Bureaux de Change charge hefty interest (or a poorer rate "interest-free").

I have found that local bars often give a better rate that Bureaux' do.

BuseTurk
You can go the the exchange center in the airport they have one in Ataturk Airport.

Guess who
http://coinmill.com It does all of the currencies in the world. I live in USD but get paid in Pounds, but travel to turkey;
since the rates change daily it is best to check close to the time that your going to make the change. Good luck

Try this website www.moneysavingexpert.com/ or I find Thomas Cook on the high st or the Post Office have good exchange rates, and T Cook don't charge commission.

If your going to be using it in turkey for your holiday id say dont change it till you get there you get a better rate over there and its a better haggling tool in the markets better than the lira

post office they have no comission, i find travel agents usually have the worst rates and charge comisson most of the time. banks also charge comission.

In Turkey :) Banks and FX Boots have rates very close to the international FX rates. If you try to change your [any] currency into Turkish Liras, outside Turkey, you will definitely get ripped of. Even ATM's all over Turkey have very favorable rates. In Turkey, do this in city/town centers (banks, booths etc.). Don't try resorts and hotels, as they may have very bad rates.

Midgetoto
For that amount I would say the Post Office and Marks and Specers. You could also try Travelx but they tend to charge a small commission on transactions of that size.

If you search in google for exchange rates you may find a company that gives a better rate. or consider buying more than £200 (even if you dont use it) just to avoid any commission charges. you can always sell it back in £ when you are back.
