I would suggest the Hotels Sol Mirlos/Tordos in Majorca.

I used to work for a travel agency who specialised in Majorca holidays, these two sister hotels were by far the most popular.

The Mirlos is half board the Tordos all inclusive, it is a Flinstones theme hotel and a lot of fun for the whole family, I have been to them both many times to inspect them and I'm 65.

It is only 120 metres to the beach and srrounded by al the amenities.

When you click on my source, all the Sol Melia hotels come up, so you first click on Spain and then Majorca, you don't have to put the dates in to view the hotel.

To show off I've incuded a photograph of myself in Fred Flinstone's car, by the way the children will meet Fred there.

They have childrens clubs for all ages

i think somewhere where flight is short. mallorca in spain i think is more family oriented. or you could try south of france which is not too far away, hot and nice sea's. you could also try northern spain like callella which is also close to barcelona if you fancy a day trip??

Abroad as in out of country? I would have to say Europe, they have a Disneyland that the kids would be into. Not only that, but they have white sand beaches that I hear are just amazing :)

Rather depends where you're starting from. But I'll assume you're in the UK and suggest Portugal. We've been taking our children there since they were babies - they're eight and nine now. The Algarve has beautiful secluded, sandy beaches and doesn't get unbearably hot, even in high season. The flight is only about 2.5hrs and the Portuguese love children so the place is very child friendly. Try it - I guarantee you'll go back year after year. [ps ignore the recent bad press surrounding the McCanns - that was their own fault, NOT Portugal's.]

Dominican Republic is nice and has resorts with lots of kids activities.

Reading the responses, though I realize that there is some question. Are you in Europe, hoping to go to another continent (your use of the word holiday instead of vacation rather argues that way)

Or are you american hoping to holiday in Europe?

For either a European or an American I'd recommend the Dominican, but it's not in Europe if that is what you are looking for.

Go to France and Spain.
Visit Paris and then head towards the south of France and then into Barcelona and Madrid.

Some great beaches and good historical sites. The kids will love the effiel tower at night. Its so beautiful!

Centre Parcs in France or Holland. Therefore, you can explore the country by day, and use the family-orientated facilites of Center Parcs during the evenings. The Centre Parcs abroad are relatively cheaper than the UK ones.

Spain or similar.
took our there it was great.
aged 16 months,4 and 7.
If you go between march and June it is not too warm, and the beaches are quieter and more family friendly.

happy holidays!
( don't envy the flight though!!)

I would suggest that you take them camping with one of the ready erected camping companies such as Eurocamp, Eurosites, Haven, etc. whose brochures are currently heavily advertised. (See their websites for loads of info.) France is an obvious choice because a). there will be no flying. Long distances from channel ports to campsites can be broken by using overnight stays on other sites. 2). there is an enormous choice of sites each of which will have excellent facilities for your children, including children's clubs staffed by qualified English staff, so you can have a few hours peace!!.
3). if you're going for two weeks you can split you holiday between 2 different sites, perhaps one by the sea, one in the country.
If you do take this option try sites in western Brittany ( the area round Bedodet is lovely with super beaches) or the west coast around Royan/St Palais-sur-Mer. I have visited campsites in both these areas and they were brilliant with loads to do, especially for young children who love to try to talk to children of other nationalities although, if you go during the school holidays, there will be many other Brits on site which you might wany to avoid.

Well I suppose most people will suggest Spain!

My kids & I love France, we are going again in July this year - we go down to the south, it is very hot, lovely beaches & very cosmopolitan - I love Montpellier! Ultra modern & puts our tourist places to shame! Nice is nice, if a little pricey.

We visited Aigues Mortes when my daughter was 9, son was 4 and my little girl was 4 months old - the kids had a whale of a time as it was a small village, off the tourist trail, the kids played with the local kids (well they all play in the same language)

majorca it's only a 2 hour flight and they love kids over there, and are really welcoming. all the english and spanish restaurants have play areas for the kids we take my son every year and we started when he was 3.
In one particular place the owner came and fed our son at our table because he was playing up.
