Where does Macedonia fit in within the Kosovo/Serbia conflict?

Macedonia has no part in Kosovo / Serbia conflict. It just borders the two countries.

Macedonia split when Serbia wanted to take control of everything in Yugoslavia. Actually, it was Milosevic that wanted to own the whole Yugoslavia brutally and by using force, not Serbia.

The FYROM although managed to sever its ties with Yugoslavia without war is still untrustworthy and it wants to grow and enlarge its territory. However, this possess a problem since these lands they have their eye on belong to other countries like: Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, and Serbia...

It suppresses the rights of its minorities and now its goverment collapses because of it... it make claims to a history that was there 15 centuries before they even entered the region...

so the answer to your question is just... who cares because you can't trust them anyway!!!

I don't think that there's a conflict between Kosovo and Serbia.

Serbia has right to the territory and it was taken from them. As simple as that.

As far as macedonia, and I do call that country Macedonia, (and if there's a country which decides to be called "Alentejo", which is a part of my Country, I won't raise any issues with it) their silence makes me laugh.

There is an Albanian minority in Macedonia. It is NOT a silent minority.

It was like that in Kosovo, not long ago. Now, all their cousins (Oh my God, they DO have a lot of them!) moved in and they're the majority.

Macedonia is, obviously, next.
And yet they're silent...
Oh, they're in for a treat...

Macedonia will never fit to any of its neighboring countries, because the constituency of its population is a potential time bomb. Besides, its policies of unfriendly neighboring relations with all the surrounding countries, contrary to signed agreements, makes it the hotheaded bully of the region, and that only on account of the open support of the USA.
The opportunistic stature of the country is shown through the years and it is manifested again under the auspices of the USA. They had done it back in the 40's when the Germans invaded their country and they will do it again in the future given opportunity.
Is what we say in my country"encouraged the hillbilly, and he will jump into your bed". Classical case.

Well it is simple. Macedonia wised up and decided (or should I say was forced) to accept the terms of the Ohrid Accord and respect the rights of if the ethnic Albanians. Unlike Serbia and now they have paid the ultimate price in the form of Kosovo's independence.
The Macedonian army has trained well and new arms have been bought and the right wing elected officials are sometimes poised to make a move againts the Albanian rights here and there testing the waters but no matter how much arms you have and how much you train you cannot buy courage and heart and this the Albanians have to spare.

If you want the world to be impressed by your sadistic charm then you definately have our attention. Your beloved Serbia is heading in downward spiral and it is doing it fast. On the bright side of things it is doing it swifty and it is just a matter of time before mass rebellions burst and all the leaders are hanged, so the circus will be over sooner than latter. Macedonia(the country) soon will accept Kosovo's indipendence, or it accepted the indipendence but I don't know it perfectly, although the only problem was the problem of the borders, but now it's solved...

From point of view of big forces Macedonia is part of big scenery Ilirida, together with Kosovo, South Serbia, Epirus( and maybe whole Greece). Step on the way is: try change name of Macedonia, put Veto, block Macedonia, I'm sure this is step of that big scenery.But.. I don't know what is next in that scenery, maybe you know, you ask this question do Macedonians know what is next prepared for them, after all those genocides, pressures, ignorance of Macedonian nation, keep Macedonia poor, clean Macedonia from map.?Who more participate in this scenery: the Greeks, the Albanians, the others neighbors and big forces, again don't know, it is not important.
Only one I know: Macedonians after all were, they are here and will be for ever:grass Piriey, that are Macedonians, Sacred lend: that is Macedonia, only patience and God will give peace Macedonians, and enemies will be ashamed, because Macedonians have never made some one evil, like that want show some ones who play whole time victims, and because they are honest God is with Macedonians, for ever.

I totally agree with marija b. although our government is still neutral the populationâ€™s point of view is devided. But, i got the idea that only the Albanian minority supports Kosovoâ€™s independence. The biggest percent does not. Macedonians are still bonded to their ex-compatriots, which on the other hand still call their (my) country fyrom (well, some of them), donâ€™t aknowledge Macedonian church etc +

At the end itâ€™s not what we want or donâ€™t want. Itâ€™s about interests. We have our problems at the moment and solving them itâ€™s the most important.

However Serbs have always had my support on this issue.

The Macedonian government is still neutral on the Kosovo question! There are two forces at hand in here:
1) 23% of Macedonia's population is Albanian and of course that minority favors the independance of Kosovo

2) Macedonia and Serbia have close ties dating back from Yugoslavian times and the majority of Macedonians believe that Kosovo is Serbian land!

Currently Macedonia is too busy with their own problems due to the conflict with Greece and all the pressure to modify the name as well as the pending NATO membership.

So back to Kosovo - Macedonia is independent and will probably hold off making a decision on the subject as long as possible!
