ukpolska
Poland is in central Europe and not Eastern Europe as Europe extends its borders up until the Russian Ural Mountains. We as British or whatever in the west only think of it as Eastern Europe because of our relationship to it and because it was part of the eastern bloc which were a group of country’s controlled by Russia. If you say to a Polish person where you are in Europe they will always reply central Europe and they are very proud of it. And I should now I have lived here for seven years, but if you wish to check it out yourself then go here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe

Poland is and always was in Central Europe. It is cultural term not geographical. Central Europe is Latin alphabet, ghothic and baroque churches, high position of nobility in society, protestant reformation and counter reformation, XVIII century enlightenment, fighting for freedom etc. When you look at history of Poland, Czech Rep. or Hungary you will find all of this things. Eastern Europe is Cyrillic alphabet, orthodox church, high position sovereign ( tsar), oriental influences etc. Eastern Europe country is rather Russia. Visit Krakow or Prague and than go to Moscow and you will see what are differences between Central and Eastern Europe

It is Sandwiched Between Germany and European Russia. So I suppose it is East Central Europe. It all depends on the Opinion of the Experts, some say Central, some say East, and some say East Central.

The problem with East or West is that it depends on where exactly you are. Like we are called the west but that is strictly relative to position. From the UK we say Poland is East. But looking at the map of the world this perspective could change. If you live on the other side of Poland , it could be South. Get me?

The Glorious S.O.B.
Poland could be in either Eastern or Central Europe. Specifically, the nation is bordered clockwise by Russia (a Kaliningrad oblast separ8d from the mainland), Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, & the Baltic Sea.

uk polska is right for your question ...but the cultural alphabetical explanation above was good too.

The EXACT center of europe falls in poland, but it does have some eastern european characteristics. it is a slavic country, but it does use the Latin alphabet like central europe. Also it is a member of the visagrad triangle, a treaty made by central european countries. So it can go either way. From Germanys point of view it is in the East, from Russia's its in the west.

Different sites have different info because it depends on the point of view, historical and geographical facts.Generally by culture and languages anything that is east from Germany is considered eastern Europe. Also as the years of Communism where Poland belong to by that time ( Also east of Germany). But if you will look by geography Poland is in Central Europe. As far as I remember when long time ago they measured where exactly is the "heart" of Europe and it was somewhere in Poland. This will give you more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_Center_of_Europe

Between Germany and Belarus. The Baltic Sea is above it, Ukraine, the Czechs and Slovakia below it. Russia and Litwa touch it too. It's considered Eastern Europe, in most cases. I've rarely heard it referred to *** Central Europe.
