Where is Vardaska? |
Can someone please tell me what country in Europe this is?I came across this name but can't find it in the map.
Thank you all in advance Additional Details Judging by your answers,I think I opened the Pandora's box here. I understand that the name has been changed from Vardaska to Macedonia, recently. But could the Vardaskans (?) pick a different name than that of their neighbors? It seems odd to me to pick this name. I would be upset if someone named their country the same name as mine...
Anyway, thank you all for your answers, I hope you find a peaceful way to solve this problem. |

Former Yugoslav Republic of Vardarska, known as the
Yugoslavian province of Vardarska-Banovina
until the 1940's, when communist Tito's Yugoslavia changed its name and falsified its cultural heritage in order to try to steal Macedonia from Hellas.
Hey, I am telling the truth here and I cannot understand why thumbs down!!! |

The name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is a case of dispute between itself and Greece. The facts and the historical heritage and the cosmic justice, if you'll have it - all are on the side of Greece in this dispute. The legacy of Macedonia is Greek, there's no doubt about it. This is where you might have heard the name of Vardarska, as Evzenit states. Prior to WWI there was no such thing to the south of Serbia as today's FYROM. It is purely a construction of the Communist regime of Yugoslavia. I'll only add one crucial fact to Evzenit's post: Yes, it's true that the Communists invented it, but they didn't nurture territorial pretensions towards Greece as much as they wanted to crush, or at least diminish the power of Greater Serbia. Alongside "Macedonians", which they stole from the Greeks, they invented other nationalities within Yugoslavia, all with the same aim: to weaken Serbia. |

It's strange how you couldn't find it on the map?
It seems that you know many things about "Vardarska".
You don't know where in Europe this country is, but you know it's neighbours, and their history. You also said that you would be angry if someone took your name? So here is your name back to you. You can call yourself Vardarians and your country Vardarska, because the name of my country is MACEDONIA.
P.S.
I allow you to choose my answer as a best one. Thank you in advance, too :) |

Vardaska was the ex-province of the former United Yugoslavia, situated to the South of Serbia and among Albania to the West and Bulgaria to the East, and north of the Middle of Greece. Tito, just after the WWII and while Greece was in a civil turmoil, in order to give more gravity to the name and a possibility to get an exit to Aegean changed the name to Macedonia. So in order to get his plans, even in length of time, and in accordance with the Greek Communist Party went ahead to this renaming. The fact remains that they have not legitimate claim to the name and even more so to the historical facts attached to it. Their claiming the name is the way to get eventually an exit to Aegean and play a major part in the region. They claim Un-liberated parts of their country within the sovereign state of Greece to back up that claim. If there are people feeling that way, they can pack up and go join their fatherland. This land is our land and our fathers and forefathers fought for it and we give not an inch. so they might as well get it through their thick skulls: NO PASARAN. |

Hello, Vardaska is a region of former Yugoslavia, as very correctly some people pointed out above. FYROM is their temporary name given to them by the U.N. or VARDASCA, the name they have given themselves a long time ago (after the big river, Vardar, that crosses the country). In 1939 they published a stamp, where they name-call their "province", inside Yugoslavia, VARDARSCA. This stamp (their stamp) is available to anyone.
Some natives of old Yugoslavia questioned even the ethnicity of Greeks as well as their Macedonian borders.Have no illusions, facts speak louder than their little voices.Check the info below:

I haven't heard about Vardarska, but I know about Egejska or Aegeon Macedonia which is occupied country since 1912. And why do I think that you know who did that? |

I have heard about New Greece. When settled with PROSFIGI , refugees from Asia Minor, it has become VORIA ELADA.
In 1988 they have named it as Makedonia.
Actually, it is Aegean part of Macedonia, occupied by Greece after the Balkan wars 1912-1913.
Macedonian minority under political pressure, without basic human rights. |

Vardarska is Greek insult fascist name for Republic of Macedonia. In time before Wold War 2, part of Macedonia had been occupied by SHS, Pirin Macedonia is occupied by Bulgaria and Aegean Macedonia is occupied by Greece.
That is same how to say for Greece Ottoman Turkish Vilaet, sorry i don't see word greece on this map, i read: Livadia

With Greek logic that Tito invented Macedonia, how previous anwerers said, you can say also that Tito invented Slovenia,Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia. Slovenia is on next SHS map Drinska Banvonia, Croatia: Primorska Banovina:

In Macedonian language Vardarska is adjective and use without noun haven't sense, but Greeks that don't understand.
So, Vardarska is Greek insult name for Republic of Macedonia and haven't sense in other languages at all.
